Last week I was lucky enough to help my sister Alice G Patterson for a lot of holiday dog photos in her studio for her latest project, “The 12 (or so) Dogs of Christmas”. It was a great flurry of treats, squeaky toys, festive hats, holiday sweaters, belly rubs, and loads of fun. I’m happy to share some of these dogs with you.
Gus will be celebrating his first Christmas this year, he’s about 6 months old and pretty much the best-trained puppy I’ve ever met. I guess that shouldn’t be a surprise since his family had Gatsby, the best-trained dog I ever knew personally. Boston Terrier Lola was adopted from St Louis Senior Dog Project. (She is around five or six years old. They help more than just senior dogs!)
Lola is the wiggliest, cutest thing ever. She is a riot. Zoe looked adorable in her sweater and matching bow. From Kellyn: “Zoe is a southern bell at heart. She was found roaming around Greenville, SC, in February of 2012. Zoe was going to be put down, but a local organization in Scottsville, New York, called Paws and Purrs Rescue, rescued Zoe and brought her to Rochester, NY. I started my search for the perfect pup in April, and I adopted Zoe in May of 2012! Zoe has been at the center of my life ever since. She is the sweetest, most loving dog I have ever known. I always say My rescue dog rescued me, and I truly believe that.” Zoe is also on the list for Alice and me to “borrow.”
KB is huge! KB is exceptionally devoted to his sister, Seussa. These German Shepherds are super sweet and had fun exploring Alice’s studio. No corner was left undiscovered. Seussa is a very thorough watchdog.
Sweet Meara is a mixed breed who ended up with her current family after a friend realized she wasn’t really ready to have a dog in her life. From Becca: “I saw a post on Facebook about a little puppy that needed a home because her owner couldn’t keep her. The minute I saw her face, I couldn’t say no- So I asked Jerry if we could get her, and he, of course, agreed that we couldn’t say no! So we picked her up – she was only a baby then- she is almost a year now and LOVES to play fetch and to cuddle and hug. She is seriously the sweetest dog!”
Naturally, I’m biased, but I think Theo is looking awesome! He’s lost about 8 pounds since we adopted him from the Humane Association of CNY.
Theo still does a pretty wicked walrus impression, though! Santa, please go easy on food gifts for Theo this year!
