Seeing how all of my dogs are small and fairly young, I didn’t expect to be wondering if joint supplements made sense for them at this point in their lives. Nelly is only six years old but several years ago she had surgery to remove part of her femur. She no longer has a normal ball and socket joint in that leg. For the majority of her life, it hasn’t really seemed to bother her and she has carried on and kept up with all her dog friends.

This summer I noticed she was favoring her right hind leg and instead of jumping into my lap, she waited for me to lift her up. During her annual vet check-up, I commented on how Nelly had been limping more which I attributed to surgery she had years ago. The vet was in agreement with me as to the probable cause of Nelly’s joint stiffness. More importantly, we talked about ways to alleviate the pain and stiffness. Fearing another surgery would be suggested I was relieved and yet somewhat skeptical when my vet recommended that we try a joint supplement to help Nelly’s joint pain.
A short time later I had the opportunity to try Natural Stride Joint Supplement for Dogs. I’m always hesitant to add medications and supplements. However, I was reassured somewhat when I visited the Natural Solutions website and read the following information.
*Made in the USA in FDA registered facilities
* Results in days not months
* Natural Ingredients
*Repairs the joints instead of masking the pain
*60 Day Money back guarantee, and since you see the results in days, you don’t need to wait months to decide if it is working.
*Affordable
It comes in a powder form and when I first got the package, I wondered if Nelly who is a little finicky would be fooled into consuming it. I started thinking of alternative ways to sneak it to her, but really it was just wasted energy. She loves it. The dosage for Nelly is about 1/3 of a teaspoon and I just sprinkle it on her food once a day. Theo who has a good nose for food and treats will cry and beg if I forget to seal the package.
As for the results, so far I’m really pleased with Nelly’s progress. As crazy as it seems I saw results in a few days. I thought perhaps it was wishful thinking or just a coincidence. As the days get colder, I know that my joints are a little creaky. Nelly, however, isn’t limping at all. She isn’t favoring her leg anymore and if she wants to get in my lap, she jumps up all by herself. The quality of Nelly’s life has improved significantly and that is a value that I can’t put a price on.
At this time Natural Stride is only available as a powder, but soon it will be available in chewable form.
If your dog suffers from joint pain, consult with your veterinarian. If she suggests a joint supplement, you might want to try Natural Stride.
Special thanks to Alice G Patterson Photography for Nelly’s photo!

Thank you so much for sharign your experience. We have littermates who developed arthritis when they were older puppies due to poor bone growth. Our vet at the time thought it was partly genetics (mixed breed) and partly the large breed puppy food we were feeding them.
It’s interesting to read about other reasons dogs might need a joint supplement.

Great to know about! I think my dog has joint stiffness as well, and as he’s turning 9 this January I am conscious that this could get worse with age. Thanks for the recommendation!

Scout is starting to limp and I’m thinking I might need to start him on a joint supplement. I might have to look into this product!
