We adopted Theo about 3 1/2 years ago, and while I can’t articulate exactly what he means to me, he makes my life better. In the time we’ve had him, he has changed from an overweight, hilarious, goofball to a healthier version who owns our hearts. All photos by Alice G Patterson Photography.
We’re not sure how old he is, the rescue estimated he was four or five when we adopted him. As his face becomes grayer, I want time to stand still. As much as I love senior dogs, I’ll never be ready for Theo’s time with us to end. Hopefully, he has plenty of years ahead of him!

I know what you mean about never being ready for Theo’s time w/ you to end. I feel the same! I wish they could stay forever but they can’t. Great article and beautiful photos. Our 14-year old cat Tucker had some serious constipation issues and we now feed him food with sweet potato as well as including sweet potato in his food. Your article was a good reminder that pet parents need to adapt their fur kids’s food as they age.
