Groot, the adorable mini Goldendoodle puppy, joined his family for some gorgeous autumn portraits with Katie from Persuasion Photography.
From Katie: “These sweet newlyweds became ‘pawrents’ to a precious Goldendoodle, Groot, on their wedding day. During their first look, Josh told Audrey that his wedding gift to her was a Goldendoodle puppy. We had the honor of capturing their first family portrait at Groot’s favorite dog park.
From Audrey: “Groot was actually a surprise wedding gift. In the months leading up to our wedding, I had been begging Josh for a male mini Goldendoodle, my absolute dream dog! We were watching Guardians of the Galaxy together and fell in love the character Groot, agreeing if we ever got a doodle pup we had to name him after the character!
We weren’t sure if we could afford it, but I found a breeder that we loved with a litter that was actually due the week of our wedding. Josh and I continued to debate back and forth, and the day the pups were born the breeder messaged me saying all the boys were already reserved. I was so upset!
Little did I know, Josh had gone behind my back and reserved one already. At our first look, I opened a Groot action figure and a picture of a tiny puppy. Once I realized what this meant, I FREAKED out! It made a day that was already the best totally unbeatable.
Groot is the love of our lives and means the world to us. Not only is he our furry companion, but he signifies our first year of marriage and our first big commitment together!”

What a lovely family. I love Groot’s name, and the story of how he joined the family. I always kind of secretly wished my fiance would surprise me with a new pet as a gift, even though, in most situations, I’m against giving pets as gifts. I can’t really complain that he never has, though, since it means I get to personally pick out all our new family members.
