I hope you had a wonderful long weekend! I had a very relaxing stay-cation enjoying the company of family, friends, and of course our dogs. However, I am excited to get back to blogging so I can share this little cutie who was photographed by Bethesda, MD pet photographer Cavin Elizabeth.
From Cavin: This is a session I had with a precious German Wire-Haired Pointer puppy, or Deutsch-Drahthaar, named Gracie. Gracie was 9 weeks old for her session and has an incredible amount of energy. She makes my job easy as a Pet Photographer in Bethesda Maryland.
Deutsch-Drahthaars are a unique breed of dog. I had never seen a German wire-hair pointer before Gracie, although they do look similar to German short-hair pointers. The Deutsch-Drahthaar is a medium to large dog of noble bearing. Most Deutsch-Drahthaars have a distinctive beard and eyebrows. Gracie has light to no beard and eyebrows and adorable brown spots on her coat. She’s a beautiful puppy! For Gracie’s session, we knew that she had to much energy to sit still, so we had to photograph her playing outdoors and then sleeping indoors. This was the best way to capture great shots of her without stressing her out. She played and played outside with the greatest amount of excitement.
She is vivacious, playful, and incredibly intuitive to emotions. Drathaars are known to make eye contact with humans and Gracie already did so at 9 weeks. It’s like she can connect deeper with people, which I think makes it so easy for her to learn tricks and appropriate behavior. She learned to sit at 10 weeks and is currently at a ‘doggie boarding school’ where she is learning how to sniff out deer antler sheds, remain still many yards away from her owners, cross lakes to retrieve items and bring them back, and more! Her owners hope that she also returns home with a much more careful attitude toward the cats-she doesn’t ever know when it’s time to leave them alone. Gracie is one of the best puppies her owners have ever had and they can’t wait to watch her grow!
I cannot wait to photograph Gracie when she grows up, although I do wish she could stay a puppy forever. I can honestly say that being a pet photographer in Bethesda Maryland is one of my favorite jobs as a photographer!”
