Happy National Mutt Day! I love these photos of Nina from Jennifer Cortiella. Nina is Lab-Terrier mix. She was just a puppy when Walter adopted her from Miami-Dade Animal Services.
From Jennifer: “Walter said what caught his eye and made him rescue Nina was because out of all the puppies in the shelter she was the only one that was quiet and laying down at the end of the kennel while the other puppies were barking and jumping up and down.
He said to himself this is the pup for me, laid back! Little did he know that once Nina was home, she was energetic, playful, and very sociable.
Nina and Walter have been best friends for nearly seven years now.
He told me ‘If I had a dollar for overtime my dog made me smile, I would be a millionaire.'”

What beautiful photography and beautiful dogs. I absolutely agree, if it were not for my pets, I would smile much less often. XO

Nina is so gorgeous, and you can see how much they love each other. If only I could get my dogs to sit still long enough to get some decent pics!!

I love hearing stories about why people adopt certain dogs. Walter and Nina’s story was very sweet. The pictures really show their beautiful bond and the first pictures of Nina express her gentle, loving spirit so perfectly.

Mutts are my favorite breed! I would love to see legislation requiring all dogs to be neutered unless owned by a licensed breeder, but the world will be a sad place without mutts. It’s a double edge sword! ;P

The special mutt who touched our lives is Zola. She is our dog’s bestie. She was rescued from a drug bust and confiscated as evidence. My friend adopted her and they lived happily ever after.

These photos are absolutely stunning and really capture both of their spirits! Every one of my dogs has done something special for me. However, Harley, was my very 1st solo rescue as a single women and he changed my world. I didn’t feel alone anymore as I had a companion to travel with and “someone” to come home to. He taught me to be content with where and who I was and filled my heart and life with unconditional love.

She is absolutely beautiful! I’m sure Nina was a cute puppy too. This piece goes to show how amazing it is to have that long-term bond with a companion. Walter is, in many ways a millionaire.

Nina is gorgeous, and it would be pretty hard to resist that face if I were looking to adopt another. She reminds me so much of my Lab mix we had growing up; he was the sweetest cuddle bug ever.
