It is always sad to lose a loved one, but I always feel happy to see photos of a dog who has been cherished. Hiring a professional pet photographer is one of the best ways to help keep a memory alive. Melissa and Kristen from Tangled Lilac Photography always manage to get beautiful photos that capture the love and joy that a dog brings to his humans.
From Melissa: “We got to meet Syler the Boxer last fall in the worst way possible. His mom, a veterinarian at Canyon Pet Hospital in Flagstaff, called to get a Ginger Session for him. Ginger Sessions are our end of life photo sessions. Our hearts drop when we get these calls because we know one of our animal friends is about to cross the Rainbow Bridge.
When we met Syler at Buffalo Park, he proved to be the sweetheart his mom told us he was, and we instantly fell in love. Syler lived a short while after our shoot, and we’re so happy we were able to get these photos so his family can always remember him forever. We hope heaven has plenty of belly rubs, bowls of mac-n-cheese and squirrels to chase, sweet boy. Till we meet sweet boy again.”
From Jennifer: “Syler was a special dog for sure. He was my husband’s dog and the reason for us meeting (I was his vet first).
His loss, like any loved one, was hard but expected being a boxer. He was eight years and a day when he died. He still permeates our conversation and thoughts.
He was a goofy guy who could spoon in bed with the best of them!
We do miss him terribly.”

I love this post and SO agree! Having photos of beloved pets to share keeps their memory even more alive. I love to hear that you like seeing pics of cherished pets…because I love posting ones of my new furangel, Gibson. It’s painful, but it also brings me smiles at the photographic memories we have. And hearing others love seeing them, warms my heart. These photos of Syler are so beautiful. Sending hugs to his family. <3

What a beautiful way to remember your pet! Syler has a lot of personality in these photos. I would never have known that he was so close to passing if you hadn’t said it. I hope that his family has been brought a lot of peace and comfort from these photos.
