Virginia lifestyle photographer Gayle Driver sent me this session of a handsome Presa Canario Mastif via Two Bright Lights. I encourage everyone to get their loved ones (humans and pets) in for a professional photography session. It may seem like a luxury at the moment, but those photos will be priceless later.
From Gayle: “Phinn was a Presa Canario Mastif and I met Phinn over a year ago when my sister came to visit. I was a little afraid of him at first just because I have never been around such a huge dog before, but seriously, Phinn was the most laid back, calm and friendly dog I have ever met. He was such a sweetheart and I had a wonderful time hanging out with my sister and her dog for the day.”
From Lisa: “I adopted him from Deepwood Veterinary Hospital. His breeder dropped him off at the Fairfax County Animal Shelter in Fairfax, Virginia because he didn’t meet breed or show specifications.
Deepwood Veterinary Hospital adopted him so he wouldn’t get euthanized at the shelter. They have a rescue program within their practice for dogs that are basically on ‘death row’, he lived another 3 1/2 years. Sadly, he passed away in 2013. He was the gentlest giant I have ever known.
Although Phinn’s time was too short, I know he lives on in spirit with Lisa. These photos are a beautiful reminder of him. You can see more photos of this handsome boy on Gayle’s blog. To stay up with Gayle’s work, follow Gayle on Facebook.

Awe, such a sweet face. Mastiffs of any kind always make me think of our bullmastiffs when we were kids. Phinn looks like he had a lovely three plus years with his family. It really is a treasure to have these memories… Gayle did a lovely job.
