In our house, summertime means a lot more traveling. Whether your dog is going on vacation with you or staying with a pet sitter, friend or relative, life is better for all of you if you have packed all the necessities. My dogs always know when we’re getting ready to go on a trip. Nelly parks herself on a suitcase to make sure she isn’t left behind, while Sophie (who just loves to be home) tries to stay out of the way. Theo watches us intensely, and I’m pretty sure he’s wondering if I have packed enough food. Here’s what we packed for Theo’s recent stay with my sister and her dogs. In addition to being Theo’s favorite pet sitter, Alice also photographed Theo and his stuff for me.
The only way I can leave that sweet face is knowing that he’s in good hands with Alice. I try to make it easier on both of them by bringing everything he needs.
My tote bag from Noble Friends makes a perfect bag for Theo’s belongings, it holds everything except his bed and crate.
We keep his feeding directions right on the container, so whoever is feeding him knows exactly how and what to feed him. The measuring cup makes it easy to give him the right amount of food.
The DIY treat jar is portable and with his name on it, he doesn’t accidentally get someone else’s treats, especially important for animals with allergies.
Munchkin sent me this handy little bag. It is perfect for vet records, proof of vaccinations, emergency information (including another phone number in addition to my cell phone number), medicine, shampoo, dental treats, poop bags, extra leash and any other small items.
Theo LOVES playing tug of war, these toys by Harry Barker are two of his favorites. I love them because they are durable and attractive.
Here’s my go-to list whenever I pack for my dogs:
- crate
- Bed
- Leash
- Collar and id tag
- Poop bags
- Bowls
- Food and feeding directions
- Measuring cup
- Treats and dental treats
- Toys
- Emergency information
- Proof of Rabies vaccination
- Shampoo
- First Aid Kit
What is on your dog’s list?
Even though I miss Theo when we travel without him, I know he has a great time with Alice!

Aww even his belongings look so beautiful; I have a tendency to forget the proof of vaccination cards. Luckily we haven’t ran into any problems but I always smack myself on the head and say “seriously? I forgot them again?”

My list is on my phone, so I can always see it and add to it as needed. I’ve found that keeping my lists there is really helping me be more organized.

Great products and terrific list. My fur-kids will be missing me next week when I travel to BlogPaws but luckily, my husband will keep them spoiled in my stead. *s*

I love how everything has his name on, what a clever idea especially if they are staying at another house with dogs, this way you can relax knowing he is getting his food and treats. I love the tote bag, it is just adorable. Great post
