Happy St Patrick’s Day! While I don’t have a green poodle or an Irish Wolfhound to share with you, I do have one of the world’s luckiest dogs to share! Sarah McGraw spent an afternoon documenting this handsome boy’s lifestyle. Thor lives a life of luxury and is completely adored, but he wasn’t born into this life.
From Sarah: “I first saw Thor just over a year ago when he came into Lucky Dog for their Halloween contest. He was dressed with Snoopy’s dog house on his back and ended up being the winner! Now, just a year later, our paths were to cross again – this time for an amazing session on ‘his boat’.
Our session was set for a sunny afternoon on Lake Norman. A cold front had just moved through so it was the perfect temperature for a shaggy pup like Thor. He nicely invited me onto his boat, properly named ‘One Lucky Dog’.”
From Lee Ann & Cuneyt: “Thor is a 5 1/2 year old, black and red, long haired German Shepherd. These photos were taken last summer on HIS boat aptly named ‘One Lucky Dog’. Thor was found listed on Craigslist when he was only a year and a half old. Sadly, his former owners had small children and no time to spend with Thor. When we first met him, he was kept primarily in a garage, wild with built up energy & not exercised at all. He hadn’t been socialized, nor had he been leash trained as he didn’t go for walks or even in a car. His life with his new family now consists of going everywhere with his mom & dad… Literally! He never stays alone – he goes to restaurants, shopping and even to work everyday!
He has travelled across the USA and even driven all the way to Canada where he spent months exploring the beaches and hiking trails! Since his first day with us, he has been loved on and spoiled more than any other doggie has ever dreamed of! He enjoys chilling at home with his feline sister, KitterKat, daily long walks, playing at the dog park or at our local dog bar and play dates with his neighborhood friends! He is a water dog and spends most of the year swimming or sleeping in the sun on his raft tied to the back of his boat. He is the sweetest boy you could ever meet, super smart and so friendly – especially with children.
Like a true friend, when you speak to him, he cocks his head to the side and listens intently to everything you have to say!
His favorite toy is his orange and blue ball and he loves catching bubbles and chasing his laser’s beam all over the place. Thor can be found on his own Facebook page (Thor Ertezuk) where you can follow his activities and antics. Be sure to check out his Halloween pictures as he has won multiple contests for three years in a row!”

Please note that while Thor found his perfect family via Craigslist, it can be very dangerous for pets to be rehomed that way. If you or someone you know has to rehome a pet, please contact a no kill shelter!

Wow, what an awesome session, dog, and boat. Most of all though, I love that Thor’s humans recognized his full potential despite his condition when they first met him… so inspiring!
