There is something so endearing about older dogs, and Darby, the Patterdale Terrier, is no exception. He joined his humans and their other dog, Bailey, a German Shepherd mix, for a family photo session with Irish Eyes Photography.
From Maureen: “The all black dog is Darby, and he is a 12-year-old Patterdale Terrier. Darby was rescued as a puppy on a rural road by PJ’s cousin after being thrown out of a van. Darby is friendly, loves attention but is also very independent and likes to protect our backyard from local wildlife. I love him to bits; we’ve been together for 11 years. 
The other dog is Bailey, and she is a 3-year-old Shepherd mix. Bailey was given to me as a Christmas gift from PJ just one month after my dad passed away to help support me during that tough time (PJ rescued her from Gateway Pet Guardians). Bailey is shy, loves walks, fetching and likes snuggling with Darby and her favorite people.”

I love seeing families with both older and younger dogs. It makes me happy to think that the older dog won’t be lonely with the humans are out, and that the younger one can keep the older one entertained and in good shape. What a lovely family ☺️
