I am always happy to share photos of a handsome dog. Mr. Mellow, an English Springer Spaniel, was photographed by Kathryn Schauer. I love the gorgeous light and tall grass in the first shot. I can’t believe that he is considered a senior dog, he looks so young!
From Kathryn: “Mr. Mellow’s Mom and I had been planning this photo shoot for a while and after some rainy dates and a lot of discussion on locations, we settled on one lovely afternoon at Bauer Park. I didn’t know it at the time but Mr. Mellow and his mom have spent a lot of time there in the community gardens and just enjoying the grounds. I always encourage clients to choose a location that has special meaning to them. This park was the perfect location, so beautiful, and a familiar place for Mr. Mellow.”
From Maureen: “Mr. Mellow is an English Springer Spaniel. As you may be able to tell from the photos, he loves to be photographed and willingly poses with hats and props! We picked him out from the litter and named him Mr. Mellow because he seemed so calm. Little did we know he had just woken up from a nap! He is my first dog and from what I have learned about the breed, he exhibits the Springer traits of exuberance, a strong desire to be loved, tolerates being home alone, and is a snuggle bunny (what do you mean I’m not a lap dog). He wants to run, chase squirrels and tennis balls, swim, and just be with you. His wildly swinging docked tail evidences his happiness. He has been very easy to train (with a lot of class work). He can be stubborn, but is a very smart breed. As someone once told me, Mr. Mellow is smart enough to know when he has crossed the line.
He is now 11 1/2 and his hearing is not what it once ones, nor are his energy levels. He finally is pretty Mellow! He prefers to spend his days stretched out and asleep in the sun, but can still display the puppy exuberance that amazes me. One of his favorite pastimes is running at the shore and chasing seagulls in the sky! He is good with family and friends and a good watchdog (very barky)!
He is my faithful companion who has me up every day by 5:30 am so we can walk at the beach. He is a great gift and I feel very blessed to have him in my life!”
