When it rains, it pours. But when it snows, the photographers and dogs go out to play! Portland photographer, Kelcey Olson, spent a snowy day with Kahlua the Shepherd/Chow mix and created a little magic.
From Kelcey: “The minute those first flakes of snow fell Kahlua, a 7-year-old German Shepherd/Chow mix rescue dog, was beaming with joy.
His sprinting across the apartment and excited barks were incorrigible. Giving in to his demands, we made a trek to the nearby baseball field that was quickly draped in a blanket of snow. While Kahlua chomped on the powder and raced across the vacant playground, another local came by with the cutest 10-week old puppy.
Sadie is a Border Collie/Labrador mix and was experiencing her first snowfall. She and Kahlua became friends in no time despite the vast size difference and enjoyed the snow until it was time to head home.”

I LOVE those pictures! Kahlua looks like she’s havin’ so much fun in the snow. I like the snow, too, as long as it’s not too cold. purrs
Yay for the snow photos! I know from personal experience how hard photography black dogs can be, so the snow is always a good opportunity. I will definitely have to submit some of my own photos to you.
I’m looking forward to seeing your photos, Heather!
I love the snow on Kahlua’s fur. I would never think to photograph in black and white during a snow fall, but these photos are really lovely. I especially love the one on the bridge.
I love this photo shoot. So much personality shows in each picture, and the pup is absolutely adorable. Her blue coat really sets off her shiny, black eyes.
Both Kahlua and Sadie look great in the snow! I love a dark colored dog against snowy white, its a beautiful contrast. I love the photo of Kahlua on the bridge, looking sideways and w/ his mouth open – that is so cute!

I can’t get enough of seeing pics of pets in the snow, and this set is beautiful. I guess the whiteness of the snow is the perfect backdrop for a picture-perfect photoshoot.
Kahlua has just inspired me to take Gusto for a walk in the deep snow in the woods. Your pictures are beautiful. The one on the bridge makes me think that someone does not want to go back inside…lol
I’m glad that Gusto will get to enjoy a walk in the deep snow! I imagine he enjoys the colder weather!
Love the photos and I often wonder what Layla would do with snow LOL, she is such a diva
cute puppy! Love the 10 year old puppy specially.
