Life is better with a dog. Chevy the Corgi is an integral member of Dana’s family, and his love and devotion helped them get through some rough days. Dana is the photographer behind DR Photography, and she captured the bond between her daughter and Chevy beautifully.
From Dana: “My daughter, Amber, wanted to try her hand at modeling. She chose the flowers and helped me make the flower bands. We went to her favorite garden full of roses. Of course, we had to include our furry family member too. Chevy is a Corgi and almost three years old.
When we first got him, he was a whirlwind of energy, but he was the happiest dog I’d ever met. He has calmed down now but still just as happy as can be. People note that he actually smiles. He loves all things big and small and hasn’t met a stranger yet. I’m not sure who is attached to who, but he goes everywhere (that he is allowed) with us. I even take him to the wedding shows with me! He wears his little tux bow collar and cufflinks. Chevy is who inspired me to go into business on my own as a photographer because I was obsessed with taking his photo, and so many people loved them.
He has been a huge source of support for my daughter and me during very dark times. We recently went through a difficult separation that hurt us both, and it was as if Chevy knew it was coming, and that is why he chose us as his family. He didn’t leave my daughter’s side for months, constantly cuddling and trying to play. Chevy helped us both get through that darkness.
I can truly say I’ve never had such an amazing dog before. It’s as if he knows much more than what we usually credit dogs; Chevy sees our souls.
On a lighter level. Chevy loves chasing a laser pointer, anything that squeaks (especially a little mouse cat toy that is missing an ear, leg and had several new squeakers.)
He loves to take walks and visit with anyone willing to meet him. He doesn’t wag his butt. Instead, he ‘switches’ his corgi nub on and off, and bunny bounces. You’ll never miss him being happy, though, because he literally smiles.
When you hold him, he grunts like a guinea pig, but he doesn’t bark.”

It sounds like it’s a perfect match. There are certain dogs that seem to really tune into their humans. Delilah is one. When I am sad she is right in my face making sure I’m okay.

What a lovely shoot with Chevy and his big sister. I love the flower accents. You can really see the love between them both. Animals have such a way to help pull us through our darkest times. They really are angels with fur.
