Happy Tails: Beau

Today seems like the perfect day to share these photos of German Shorthaired Pointer, Beau, by Gayle Driver. Gayle lives in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley of Virginia which serves as an ideal backdrop for this handsome dog.

From Gayle: “I am pleased to share this little photo shoot of my son and daughter in law’s new pup, Beau. He is a German Shorthaired Pointer and they got him just a few months after they were married when Beau was just 8 weeks old. He is 11 months old in these pictures and such a sweet boy!”

“Beau is a pure bred German Shorthaired Pointer. He turned one year old August 28, 2014. My husband Clark and I got him October 2013, which was just four months after our wedding, and we feel so blessed to have him as our first ‘child.’ He is exactly what my husband hoped for–playful, athletic, always happy and (too) smart and exactly what I hoped for–incredibly loving, friendly and cuddly.

Even though he’s 70+ pounds and as tall as my thigh, he’s decided that he’s a lap dog, and nothing makes him happier than taking naps on his mommy and daddy (yes, at the same time–like I said, he’s a giant).

His other favorite activity is visiting my mother-in-law’s (photographer’s) farm, where he runs around with their dog, often jumping in the pond or creek on their property or pointing at wildlife he finds. He is a neighborhood favorite, and when we leave him outside for an hour or so (we have an electric fence), many of the neighbors come over to feed him dinner scraps and pet him.

He is our constant companion, following us around the house and leaning against our legs or laying on our feet when we stand still long enough and when he rides in the back seat of the car, he leans forward and lays his head on our shoulders, just to stay connected to us.
