I asked Sonya Kolb, the photographer at Good Doggy Photography if she would send me some photos of her dog Frannie for a focus feature. She asked me if I would consider a feature of Iphone shots, and since I already follow her on Instagram I thought it would be perfect! An iphone photo probably saved Frannie’s life, she was in a high kill shelter for several months. When Sonya saw that photo it was love at first sight for Sonya. Frannie was transported from the South to New Jersey thanks to Rescue Road Trips.
From Sonya: “I love the idea of a feature from Iphone shots, something different. These are not from a session though, they are quick snaps when I see her enjoying herself, and images that make me happy. She looks so peaceful and content and I can see the transition from when we first adopted her last summer.iPhone images are a reflection of what inspires you and makes you happy in regards to creative photography. Since a smart phone is always with you, you don’t have to miss a beat. The beauty of phone images is that there are endless subject possibilities to try and so many APPS to explore.
Currently I just use the IG or Camera+ iPhone APPs to finish a snapshot and look forward to trying new ideas. Iphone snaps are an additional way to share your passions, visions and artistry with your family, friends and social media community.
My phone is conveniently around when I see something that is inspiring or is something I want to record. It is an additional way to engage in a creative outlet that has quickly become such a fun hobby. To be able to combine the love I have for my dog Frannie with my favorite pastime of photography just makes me happy.
Frannie was rescued just in time last summer after being in a high kill shelter for 2 1/2 months and I can see her blossom right before my eyes. It is wonderful to be able to record and celebrate her story. I have also used my iPhone with the volunteer work for animal rescues to help homeless dogs find their forever home. My last two dogs I have rescued was due to the iPhone images I noticed on-line, so I know firsthand the power that an image can have on someone and how it can also change your life. When I want to create professional artwork, I turn to my 2 dSLR’S. The image quality is on another level than any phone image. I love to utilize different lenses, camera bodies and editing software to create artwork for clients in their home.”
