From Hilary: “Laura and Ryan both adore an adventure. Ryan is an avid rock climber, and Laura has a passion for the Australian bush, so for their engagement shoot, they chose a secret bush track in the lower Blue Mountains. Joining them was the most important member of their family – their golden lab called Bridie. 
She wanted to take part in all the action, often ignored our requests to ‘sit’ and ‘stay,’ and frequently photobombed and or tried to sit on the couple’s laps thinking she was a puppy.
We wanted an engagement shoot that showcased Laura and Ryan’s love for each other, as well as their love for the bush and animals. They had a secluded dog walk by the river, followed by an Aussie picnic. The picnic had a rustic theme. The bouquet, the buttonhole, flower crown of paper daisies, and dog crown were made with Australian native flowers. We used cans of paper daisies and banksias decorating the table with snacks of a damper (Australian bread), lamingtons (sponge cake), and fruit.”
From Laura: “Bridie came to be part of my husband’s family when she was nine months old. Her original owner couldn’t look after her as they were sick, so my husband’s family took her on. Bridie is your typical Labrador and just loves to eat. 
She’s such a friendly, loving dog and great around the kids. She loves going on walks and loved the bush location we took her to for the photoshoot.
I’ve always felt there’s something magical about being led through the bush by a dog.”

Although these photos are gorgeous, the thing I love the most is the way Laura and Ryan never stop smiling. Even though Bridie soaked them, I don’t think they minded a bit. I love this photo shoot as I grew up hiking in the Blue Mountains – I lived in Sydney. The Australian bush is truly special. I also had a golden lab Cookie who LOVED to eat and hike and be part of the action for nearly 14 years.
Stunning scenery and love how natural and casual the couple look with their dog. Engagement photos can be so formal looking, but I like the informality of these.
Lovely pictures! Australia is one place I’ve always wanted to visit. For now, I’ll have to settle for looking at pictures instead.
