This studio engagement session with dogs from Nicole Caldwell is full of sophistication and fun. It isn’t unusual for the couple to bring an outfit change to an engagement session. However, Baloo and Mowgli are also fashion hounds, sporting both formal and casual wear. Both looks are great on them. These cuties are rescues, proving once again that there are lots of great dogs up for adoption. From Nicole: “Jannika fell in love with two dresses and decided to get both and wear one to the engagement session! They could not have dogs at the wedding, so they incorporated them into their engagement shoot. Mowgli and Baloo are named after The Jungle Book characters.” From Jannika: “My husband Jason and I adopted our twin furbabies Baloo and Mowgli from A Home 4 Ever Rescue in January 2014. I did not have dogs growing up but was excited to be a dog-mom for the first time. Even though I work from home and would be with our dog most of the time, Jason knew that we needed to have two doggies so they could be best friends and play together. We asked the folks at A Home 4 Ever Rescue if they had two dogs who would make a good match, and they mentioned that they had two perfect rescue puppies, who happened to be brothers. Baloo and Mowgli’s mother was a black miniature poodle who was found roaming the streets of SoCal. She gave birth in the rescue, and we adopted both boys 3.5 months later. We don’t know anything about their father, but we believe he was mostly dachshund, so they are doxie-poo mixes. We named them Baloo and Mowgli because The Jungle Book is one of our favorite Disney movies and they are best friends, always looking out for each other, just like the characters in the movie. Baloo and Mowgli have enriched our lives so much. Their unconditional love inspires me daily. Nothing is more fulfilling than playing fetch with them in the backyard (their favorite part of the day) or taking them for a walk in Huntington Beach’s Central Park (which, to them, is the equivalent of going to Disneyland). They help to keep life in perspective; whenever I am stressed or overwhelmed, they remind me that spending time with your family is more important than anything else. They have also taught me that nothing is more valuable than love, a tennis ball or a rolled-up pair of socks. I am now a dog-mom obsessed with her boys. And I know that we will always rescue dogs in the future because rescue dogs are perfect dogs! In early 2017, when Jason and I were planning our wedding, we realized it was not feasible to have our doggies (sons) be in the wedding ceremony (which was my first choice). But, we worked with our amazing wedding photographer, Nicole Caldwell, to incorporate Baloo and Mowgli into our engagement photos. To be honest, the engagement photo shoot turned into a dog photo shoot, which is exactly what I wanted…it was all about the furbabies! Plus, Baloo and Mowgli are naturals when it comes to posing for the camera; they really are camera hams!
Nicole was amazing, as we were able to get a variety of photos, from pictures of us playing with the boys to more sophisticated, vintage-looking shots with our kiddos in little tuxes! I couldn’t have been more pleased!

Thank you for the photo feature Daily Dog Tag! And thank you to the amazing family of Jannika , Jason, Baloo and Mowgli. Such a fun day in the studio, wardrobe changes and all! ( I am a pet parent myself, and cherish my formal portrait of me and my furbaby .) Cheers to the happy couple!

This is so cute, I love this idea! We got out two dogs after we got married and had kids, so no cute wedding pictures like this for us. But we do include our dogs in our family pictures each year. They are a part of the family too!

These are super cute photos. I had my dog in my wedding and wish we took more photos of it. They didn’t stage them, just a bunch of random pictures but we did pose for one or two, nothing on this level though. These are awesome.

Aw, that stinks that they couldn’t have the dogs at the wedding. It looks to me like the dogs would have been a wonderful addition.

Awe, I enjoyed reading about how this cute pair made their way into your home. I do wish more people would adopt instead of unnecessarily breeding more dogs.
