Dog-friendly weddings are my favorite kinds of weddings! Sawyer, the Feist Terrier mix, was the flower girl at the wedding of her favorite people, Jane and Doug. To be perfectly honest, I don’t know if Sawyer was technically the flower girl. But she’s a girl with a flower in her collar, so I think she qualifies! From Jane: “Sawyer is a rescue from Lost Dog Rescue by way of a local shelter in Puerto Rico, All Sato Rescue which rescues street dogs in Puerto Rico. According to the info when I adopted her, she is Feist Terrier mix.
I adopted Sawyer on Super Bowl Sunday 2013 when she was about 18 months old. My mom adopted Sawyer’s brother shortly after I adopted Sawyer and they love having play dates.
Sawyer can be really shy, but she’s come so far since I adopted her.
Sawyer is just the sweetest soul, and for a long time, it was just Sawyer and me. When I met Doug in 2016, he was really worried that Sawyer wouldn’t warm up to him. He didn’t have anything to worry about though because she fell in love with him almost as quickly as I did. (Although Doug does ‘pretend’ to get offended because Sawyer will go right by him to greet me first if we come home together).
Seeing how great Doug was with Sawyer made me fall for him even harder, and there was no doubt that she would have to be a part of our wedding. We were worried because she can be shy, but she stole the show at the wedding and had everyone laughing so hard during the ceremony as she rolled around trying to get the one flower she let me put on her collar off.”

At our son wedding it was outdoors in a state park. Everyone was told to bring their dogs to attend. It was unto see all the different kinds of dogs and who they belonged too. Such a fun time.

What a sweet love story! Looks like Sawyer was a hit at the wedding even getting a good roll in the grass during the ceremony which I am sure gave everyone a good laugh. I think it is so special when a couple finds a way to include their beloved pets in their wedding ceremony.

Love this story! I have never been to a wedding where the dogs were there. I have seen lots of engagement photos circulating with their animals. I think this is a really neat thing!

I love nothing more than pets being included in life’s most special events. Sawyer is so beautiful and sweet, I love that the bride and her mom both rescued street dogs from Puerto Rico – bless them for doing that! These photos are just gorgeous.
