Happy Tuesday! These adoptable dogs are all waiting at Best Friends Animal Sanctuary for their forever homes. While many of these particular dogs require a visit to the sanctuary before adoption, I want to remind you that shelters everywhere are full of great pets that are just waiting for the right person to take them home!
Keegan has the most soulful, sensitive eyes. He loves the company of adults and bonds quickly with people. Eager to please, he’s also a quick learner. Because Keegan had to have his tail removed, he’s nervous about people touching his backside, even though he’s fully healed. He needs lots of reassurance during medical handling.
Keegan suffers from anxiety and does best in calm, low-key environments. He can be mouthy when he gets overexcited and stressed. He doesn’t mind doggy friends so long as they are calm and respectful. Although Keegan is in his golden years (born in 2006), he’s still up for some adventure. He loves walks, car rides and curling up on a cozy bed with a Kong toy. If you can give this sweet boy a home that’s also a quiet, safe haven, Keegan would love to meet you.
Link is a very sweet guy who doesn’t seem to know how special he is. Born in early 2014, he can be a little insecure when other dogs are around. The only other dog he really enjoys is his friend Smudge; the two are best buds and play all day long. Link would love to find a home with Smudge, but if that’s not possible he’d be happiest as someone’s only dog. He’ll also need a home without livestock so he isn’t tempted to chase them. This sweet boy just needs someone to give him a chance, help him gain confidence, and show him some love.
Smudge is a sweet, active girl who walks great on a leash and enjoys going for hikes. Born in early 2014, she can jump fences and needs a secure enclosure when she is playing outside. Smudge can be a little insecure with other dogs. The only other dog she really clicks with is her friend Link. In fact, she’d love to find a home with him. If that’s not possible, she’d do best as an only dog in an active, loving home with no livestock. She does great on sleepovers and is looking for someone willing to share their bed and give her lots of belly rubs.
Baby is a feisty little fellow. He’s always ready to romp with other dogs, go for short walks, or warm up the nearest lap. Born in 2004, Baby spent his entire life in a loving home until his person died. He does have some health issues (including neurological issues, arthritis and heart disease, for which he takes prescription medication), but Baby keeps right on ticking. He’s hoping that lightning will strike twice and he’ll find another loving home where he can spend the rest of his life.
Happy, silly Captain Marvelis sure to put a smile on your face. His life skills are second to none. He gets along so well with every person and dog he meets that he was chosen to greet visitors twice a week at the Best Friends Visitor Center in Kanab. Smart as a whip, he knows sit, down, shake, leave it and go to your place. He’s currently working on crate training. Born in 2013, this loveable superhero is looking for a reasonably active home with no cats. If you keep him entertained, he’ll be sure to return the favor to you.
Feliz is full of love for his people and his toys. In fact, he wants to play and to cuddle with them all day. Although Feliz generally doesn’t mind other dogs, he doesn’t like sharing what he loves with them. So, while Feliz could live with the right dog, he’d probably prefer to be someone’s one and only. He has some knee problems, but they don’t require surgery. Although Feliz does not enjoy grooming or medical handling, he is really a very sweet and affectionate dog. He just needs a dog savvy person with lots of love to give.
Once you’ve earned Fred’s trust, the rewards are great. Deep down, he’s a very gentle, loving, and affectionate dog. He’s also extremely smart and responds well to training that requires him to use his brain.
Fred was born in 2011. Because he’s still a bit insecure and anxious, he’ll need to find a home with someone who can continue to help him build his confidence, keep up his training, and guide him through successful introductions with both people and other dogs. But Fred promises he’s worth it.
This is one smart lady. Lizzy is a quick and eager learner who loves to keep her mind busy. Born in 2011, she has boundless energy and would do best in an active home. She’s a little picky about her doggy pals, but may be able to live with the right one. If you’re looking for an amazing hiking or running partner, Lizzy would love to go home with you.
It takes a while to get to know Ely, but it’s worth it. A sweet, lovable guy with a goofy side, he loves to play chase with his human friends. He also plays well with other dogs, and gets along with cats. Ely was born in 2010, but still has the face of a puppy.
Because he tends to guard food, toys and other items, his caregivers are working with him, and he takes medication to help with the guarding behavior. Ely walks great on a leash, and he enjoys golf cart rides at the Sanctuary. He’ll make a wonderful and interesting companion for someone who can show him kindness while also setting appropriate boundaries. If you think that could be you, Ely would love to meet you.

What great dogs! I live with my own “baby” and wish I was close enough to add another old man to the family.
(I wonder if Captain Marvel was identified as an English Bull Terrier, Lab mix if he might get more noticed? Maybe Best Friends is worried he’ll get the wrong kind of attention?)

I was wondering the same thing, he sure like he has some English Bull Terrier to me!
