No one would ever dispute that fall can be glorious, especially for photo sessions. Terrence Irving Photography not only captured beautiful, fun, joyful photos but also some dramatic images in this dog-friendly engagement session in Waterford, Connecticut. I love this session with Youtiao, the super mutt, and his humans, Kristi and Will.
From Terrence: “Kristi and Will’s engagement session was too fun! We took advantage of the last of the fall colors while exploring Harkness with their new pup, Youtiao. He’s a new adopted addition to their family, is very friendly, and is named after a traditional Chinese dish.”
From Kristi: “Youtiao is a four-year-old super mutt we adopted from Dog Star Rescue. We did a DNA test for fun and found that he’s 27% mini American Shepherd, 27% Australian Cattle Dog, 12% Husky, and a bunch of other breeds. He’s originally from Hattiesburg, Mississippi, and it’s clear whoever had him last really loved him because he came so well trained and behaved that it was like a dream for us. We went to our first rescue event with Dog Star Rescue at the end of August just to see the dogs they had. We did not expect to actually take anyone home!
I had only submitted our pre-approval form the night before and fully expected this to take a few weeks at the very least. When we got to the event and walked around, we loved a lot of the dogs we saw, but only Youtiao (formerly Arlo) walked up to us and just plopped down next to my husband. He stayed glued to us for the rest of the event (honestly, it was probably the other way around so that no one else could claim him). Seeing our interest and passing a quick interview with his adoption screener, Dog Star Rescue graciously expedited our approval and called our references on the spot! We had to wait three days to take him home as we were not ready, and the hurricane was rolling through Connecticut that weekend, but when we could finally take him home, it felt like the family was complete. He has essentially taken his place in this family as our first child, and he will definitely be part of the formal wedding in 2023!”

Thank you for sharing and for all of the kind words! Photographing this session was a lot of fun. Kristi and Will are great, as is Youtiao. He was super friendly with me even though I’m sure it was annoying that I kept pointing my camera at him. Please feel free to see more on my website (www.tirvingphoto.com) and thanks again!
I love this engagement session with the Fall colors. Youtiao definitely chose this couple to be his family. So sweet! Congratulations to the happy couple and new family. Best wishes for 2023!
