I know that there are a lot of heated exchanges on Facebook. As a result, some people are choosing to spend less time on it. However, it is also a great way to meet your new best friend. Sweetie, the Beagle/Jack Russell Terrier mix, met her future family because of a Facebook post. Her pet parent and personal photographer, Tami from Trademark Photos by Tami McKenney, sent me these pictures.
From Tami: “We found Sweetie through a Facebook post shared by a friend. Something about her little face was irresistible to me, so I asked my husband if we could get a dog and showed him her picture. Fully expecting a ‘no’ from him, he surprised me and said, ‘maybe.’ He had told me no many times before on many different animals, so I was downright shocked that he would even entertain the thought of going to see this dog!
We ended up driving over an hour to get the shelter just to meet her. All of the kennels were full, but she was the only one who sat like a lady and didn’t bark like crazy when we walked in – my husband was sold! We filled out the paperwork, paid her fee, and went home while they checked over our application and sent her for a checkup. We were able to bring her home about a week later.
They told us when we adopted Sweetie that she’s a Beagle/Jack Russell Terrier Mix. But sometimes we wonder if that’s correct because of her personality; sometimes we think she’s part cat! She likes to clean herself the way cats do. We adopted her from Skiatook Paws & Claws.
Initially, she acted as she had never known love. She was very fearful but took to training quite well. We gave her toys, but she didn’t know what to do with them. They told us she had spent her life on a chain in the yard, so living indoors with family and toys was new for her. It took her about three months to fully settle in and begin to let her guard down. She still yelps if you surprise her, but overall she is a very playful and loving pup who doesn’t leave my side unless it’s for the treats our neighbor throws over the fence for her.
As a photographer, she is often my subject because the kids don’t always want to be my model. We were practicing tossing treats while she catches them, little did we know that we have terrible aim and she isn’t very good at catching yet, so we still have a lot more practicing to do! I don’t think Sweetie will mind!”

Aww I miss my Jack so much. We had to rehome him 5 years ago because he was too aggressive with my husband. I miss him everyday! But at least he went to a good home.
