While some of us tire of the snow after a short time, dogs seem to either love or hate it forever. Luckily for Rue, the mixed breed, she’s a snow lover. Her dog mom and photographer, Melissa Joy Creative, took these winter photos a few months ago.
Although she looks like she might be part fox, Rue is a beautiful mutt –with Lab, Catahoula, Shepherd, Pomeranian, and Chihuahua ancestry.
From Melissa: “Rue is a two-year-old rescue mutt. We adopted her as a puppy from a puppy mill that had been shut down. She was extremely ridden with bugs and worms, had no previous medical care and was more than skittish. After round the clock nutrition, deworming, shots and about three baths she was on her road to recovery. After two months she was a happy, chewy and fat puppy. I may have saved Rue, but I thoroughly believe she saved me! Every day with her adds a little excitement and fun to my day! She’s full of so much spunk and laziness it makes us the perfect match! Rue is a foxy lady full of both manners and angst, and I wouldn’t have it any other way!
Strangely enough, this session was only her second snowfall ever! My boyfriend and I took her out in the falling snow, and she could not have enjoyed it more! Rue was pretty disappointed to find, in the snow, she loses her ball easily, and her brakes do not work as well as usual, but that did not stop her from jumping headfirst into snow or catching falling flakes! This may not have been her first snow experience, but it definitely won’t be her last!”

Awww…I love this story and think that Rue and Melissa are both blessed to have found each other. I’m glad she loves playing in the snow. It will make taking her outside in cold weather just a little bit easier when you see how much she enjoys it! Such a pretty girl she is!
