It always makes me happy to see a dog-friendly family portrait session. Riley the Mini Schnauzer and his humans met up with Dennis from Charleston Photo Art at Hampton Park in Charleston, South Carolina.
From Laura: “Riley loves to play with any toys that squeak or crinkle. He will run around with them and try to keep you from getting them. Riley loves to chase after them, but he’s not so good at bringing them back. He also really loves wrestling and chasing his girlfriend pup next door. When we lived in Michigan, he would spend most of his days by the back door watching for the squirrels and then chase after them. Since moving to Charleston, Riley loves going for walks and swims at the beach! He never used to like the water until we moved here, now we can’t get him out!
When we first got Riley, my husband was nervous that a little dog wouldn’t like to be outside, but he has since proved us wrong! Riley LOVES the outdoors – most days. It’s hard to get him back in the house! He likes to hike in the mountains, going with us when we go kayaking, going camping, and going to the beach. Honestly, he’s really just happy going wherever he can with us!
The best thing about Riley is his personality. For such a little dog, he has a very big personality! He is an absolute lover, but also just silly – he makes us laugh pretty much every day.
I think my favorite memory was when we first went to pick him up. As soon as I put him in my arms, he started licking my face. We knew at that moment he would be the perfect addition to our family! He follows me everywhere and is my ‘fierce’ protector.
Riley has brought a lot of fun into our lives, and he keeps us active. He is so loyal, always wants to be where we are, and is concerned when something doesn’t seem right. He will snuggle on the couch if he senses we aren’t feeling well or are upset, but then he is right there with us if we are out in the yard doing work. If we are in separate rooms, he will usually place himself in between us so he can keep an eye on both of us at all times.
I’m not really sure how we came up with this nickname, but we call him Stinky dog, with several variations – Stinky, Stink, Stinky Schnauzer – he responds to all of them!”

Aww I miss having a little pup! Our GSD mix is like 65 pounds and thinks she’s a lapdog LOL. Riley is definitely adorable!
