Anniversary photo sessions are such a great idea! And since dogs are family, Julia and Joshua included their three Dachshund rescue mixes in their anniversary photos with Lana from 222 Photography If you’ve never adopted an adult dog, I hope these cuties will inspire you to consider an older dog. Personally, it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.
From Lana: “Julia and Joshua are proud parents of Bailey, Lucky, and Mickey. All three are rescue dogs, but it’s debatable about who saved whom. They asked me to commemorate their anniversary session with the three loves of their lives: their fur babies. Initially, we decided on shooting under the pier, but since dogs weren’t allowed, we had to find a new spot before losing sunlight. These photos were taken right outside the Huntington Beach Art Museum.
Mickey is nine, Bailey is eight, and Lucky is five. All three are Dachshund mixes, but because they were adopted from a shelter, their breed cannot be 100% confirmed (and their ages are also good estimates). Mickey was a gift to Julia from her father, while Bailey and Lucky are from the same shelter, they. Lucky is currently recovering from a broken leg with his fur-ever parents.
From Julia and Joshua: “We can’t stress enough how important it is to adopt and save a life. Please–adopt, don’t shop.”
Mickey makes pillow forts on the living room couch to sleep in. He loves being at home and relaxing. When we’re out, he’ll do a funny thing where he starts to fall asleep while standing up (you see him losing balance a little before he’s jolted awake again.
Bailey is an independent boy! He loves the dog park. Right when we unleash him at the dog park, he’s off to explore and sniff every inch of the place. Bailey is super social and will approach every dog and human at the park for sniffs and good boy pets. Big love bug- when people come to visit us, he runs over to them and flops on his back for belly rubs. He’s got a super curly tail! Uh, and he farts a lot… audible farts. He throws toys in the air and basically plays fetch with himself. We adopted Bailey from Dachshund Rescue of LA in January 2019.
Lucky is Mickey’s best buddy now. He snuggles with Mickey all of the time! Lucky squeezes between Mickey and me as we’re getting into bed- his face gets all smooshed, but he still falls asleep! He is definitely the baby of the family. He waddles around and playfully paws at our feet when he’s excited to see us. Lucky still has a bit of a limp but his leg is getting better every day. He also came home from Dachshund Rescue of LA in May 2019.”

These pictures are just so darling. I think it’s wonderful that you rescue dogs. We are considering getting a dog for our children, so we’ve been looking into doing this ourselves.

That is awesome that you are thinking about adopting a dog! Dogs and kids can be great friends, but in the beginning, it is important to supervise them closely.
