I’ve always loved odd couple friends, but this duo might be one of my favorites! Axel Rose is a Bullmastiff, and his best friend is a Silkie chicken named Scrambles. They met up with Island Paw Prints for an incredible sunset session in Silverleaves, Phillip Island. Scrambles is by far the fluffiest chicken I’ve ever seen.
From Serra: “Axel Rose and his friend Scrambles are Phillip Island regulars. We (Island Paw Prints) were lucky enough to do a photoshoot with them at the beach recently.
Axel and Scrambles are island regulars that are often around Cowes; people are constantly stopping them to take their picture or to ask questions. You see Axel is an 18-month-old, 69 kilogram Bullmastiff and Scrambles is a 6-year-old, 1 kilogram Silkie chicken.
So when their owner asked, ‘can I bring my chicken too?’ The answer is yes. The answer will always be yes.
The relationship between these two animals is truly amazing. Nothing at all fazed them and they happily sat for us as well as people that randomly approached them. Even though Axel readily eats chicken frames, he never looked at Scrambles like she was lunch. Axel would look back at her and double-check she was still there, maybe a quick sniff, and off he toddled.”
You can see more of Axel and Scrambles by following them on Instagram. I never knew that a chicken could have so much fun!

Too funny! Our dog likes to watch the chickens and chase them out of the yard into the pasture, but our chickens are afraid of the dog. We recently got a rabbit, and our dog is sure it ought to be her BFF!

I have always wanted to have a bull mastiff but my husband said they are way too big for us to care for. I think he just needs a little more convincing. (haha). Anyway, I love this unusual pair. Axel Rose is so adorable. Those eyes are so pretty! And I agree, Scrambles is the fluffiest chicken I have ever seen. Great photos! Love them all!

I love Bullmastiffs. Such lovable, gentle souls. Not more than Rottweilers, though, of course.
