Puppy Love: Tucker the Yellow Lab | Kansas City, MO

Tucker, the Yellow Lab, is a lucky pup!  I love these dog-friendly family photos with Tucker and his dads from Stevie Nicole Photography in Kansas City, Missouri. This session shows so much fun and love between the three of them.  (I’m also a huge fan of Tucker’s bandana as well as the black spots on his tongue!)

From Stevie: “Let’s be honest, the easiest way into my heart with any session is to let your doggo come with.

Tayton is one of my closest friends, and I’m lucky enough to have had him in my life for the last 18 years.  When we were in high school together, he would always stand in front of my lens while I practiced different lighting or wanted to make any other insane ideas a reality.

Let’s fast forward to us (as somewhat adults) in the year 2020: Tayton has found an incredible person to keep next to his side, Trent, and they just adopted a puppy named Tucker together!  The fam is full of the letter T, to say the least.

Tayton and Trevor had never had any formal photoshoot together, so I was more than happy to offer this one-hour session to them so I could finally meet Tucker and get some new portfolio work underway!

From Tayton:   “When we met Tucker, we could tell that he had a one-of-a-kind personality. Tucker has a bright, happy, and fun energy about him.  He is a yellow Labrador Retriever and was born on May 19, 2020. Tucker joined our family on July 12, 2020.

Since coming to his forever home, Tucker has been learning how to be a good boy. He is incredibly smart and learns quite quickly. Tucker has learned the dos and the don’ts of the household. Although he is aware of what he should and shouldn’t do, that’s not to say that he doesn’t enjoy breaking a rule or two here and there. Despite the multiple scoldings, Tucker still likes to test his fathers’ patience by playing Keep the Sock/ Shoe Away from Dad. Tucker is not afraid to speak his mind either. He will definitely give you his two cents. He can even get a little sassy and bark back when told we tell him no. It’s always a good laugh when we get to bantering back and forth.

Much to our surprise, Tucker caught on to potty training rather easily. Tucker has learned how to sit, shake with both paws, high five, lay down, roll over, “fly” (jump), and speak.

Tucker loves to go for car rides and running and playing outside. His favorite outdoor activities are playing fetch with his ball and finding large sticks to break down. Tucker is very social and has managed to introduce his two fathers to a majority of the apartment complex neighbors. He also enjoys long walks in the evening when dads are home from work.

When Tucker is not outside, he spends his time indoors by playing with his toys, chewing on his bone, or making ‘music’ with the spring doorstops throughout the apartment. He absolutely loves the water and always looks forward to his weekly bath time. Tucker’s favorite indoor activity is cuddling on the couch watching movies or television with his dads.

Tucker was so excited to meet Stevie for the first time. And, as you can tell by the photos, he is most definitely not shy around the camera. The four of us had a blast during the photoshoot session. Stevie did an amazing job! Not only did she photograph Tucker’s unique and energetic personality, but Stevie was able to capture the happiness, love, and laughter that Tucker has brought to our family.”
