Dog-friendly Las Vegas Wetlands Engagement Session

While realtors catchphrase may be “location, location, location!” I think photographers spend just as much time thinking about it.  Alycia from Fig + Willow Studios always finds amazing spots for her Las Vegas engagement sessions. Dobby, the adorable Min Pin/Chihuahua mix, and his humans had their session at the Las Vegas Wetlands.  Dobby was dressed for the occasion!

From Alycia:  “Samantha and John met almost seven years ago while taking a screenwriting class at UNLV and have been inseparable ever since. They are obsessed with good films and their dog Dobby. (All you other Harry Potter fans know where this name comes from!)

As self-proclaimed homebodies and lovers of all things relaxed, it was only fitting that they wanted something relaxed for their engagement photos. So we went to the Las Vegas Wetlands and roamed around for the better part of an hour. The Wetlands is a local hidden gem with lots of gorgeous scenery perfect for engagement photos. From tall wheatgrass to small marshy areas, this area is gorgeous.

We love it when our couples are up for an adventure! This was actually our first time shooting at the Wetlands. We had explored it before, but it was so fun actually photographing something here. We think it’s paramount that your personalities shine through during your session, so we encourage a combination of good style taste and being relaxed. It helps us bring out your true personalities and makes your photos authentic. And that’s all that we strive for. We want you to look back at your photos and remember exactly how you felt that day. We can’t wait for this couple’s wedding next year at the gorgeous Stallion Mountain at Wedgewood Weddings!”

From Samantha: “Dobby is a rescue from the Animal Foundation here in town. He’s a miniature Pinscher/Chihuahua mix (as if his ears didn’t give it away), haha. My brother and I went to Petsmart, where they have a little adoption center, to see what kind of pups were available. We checked out a few, but there was something about him when he was in his cage. Dobby was just so cute and shy in his cone. We asked to meet him, and he was super hesitant when they brought him into the room, but eventually, he warmed up enough to climb into my lap, and that was it. He was ours.

’

When we got home, I texted John a picture of him. He knew I was going to look at pups that day, so it wasn’t a huge shock when I texted him and said: ‘so we have a new buddy!’ He responded, ‘oh wow! Can’t wait to meet him! Dobby was initially very hesitant with John as he’s so much bigger than even me, but after John laid on the floor with him for a couple of hours, they are the best of friends.

Dobby has made our relationship so much better as he has brought a new level of communication and cooperation into it. Though he does sometimes chew up toys and scatter the fluff everywhere, we honestly couldn’t see our lives without him in it now, so I’ll just have to live with having to vacuum almost every day.”
