Buoy, the Golden Retriever, joined her humans for this dog-friendly family session by Dennis from Charleston Photo Art in Charleston, South Carolina.
From Katie: “Buoy is a three-year-old Golden Retriever. Her birthday is at the end of June. I have wanted a dog for many years, and my husband grew up with a golden named Fergie. Since I had a very long list of breeds that I thought I would like, we compromised that we could get a puppy as long as it was a Golden Retriever. I emailed several breeders in South Carolina, and one replied with ‘I have one girl left.’
I immediately claimed her thinking it was meant to be! We brought Buoy home at eight weeks. She was the biggest puppy in the litter at 13lbs. We wanted a name water/boat-related when we picked her up she was as round as a boat buoy – so Buoy stuck!
Buoy continues to be a very large female golden, weighing in at around 75 pounds. She is a very head-strong Retriever and loves affection. Buoy continues to get more cuddly with age. Her favorite game is retrieving sticks or ‘buoys/bumpers.’ Fact: she will not retrieve a ball. Our favorite activities together include walks and swimming. She has been on the water since she was about four months old. Boat rides still make her a little nervous, but the destination is always worth the stress. She plays for hours on end in the water. Buoy’s favorite foods are apples, carrots, and cheese. My favorite thing about Buoy is her sweet nature and her spunky personality.”
