I love seeing people include dogs in their portrait sessions. Angela and Brett included their dogs, Margot and Esteban, for their photos with Tessa Klingensmith Photography in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Margot is a Beagle mix, with intense blue eyes, and Esteban is a handsome red Heeler mix.
From Tessa: “Brett and Angela started dating when they both were in film school. It started off doing assignments and school projects together and quickly developed into much more. They eloped in the summer of 2018, though they consider their anniversary when they started dating.
At the end of 2019, Brett, Angela, and Margot made the long trek from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to Albuquerque, New Mexico, to pursue both of their passion in the film and media industry. Early 2020 they adopted Estaban, and he has been a great addition to their small family. We went to Pueblo Montaño Picnic Area and Trailhead in New Mexico. The sun was shining and we could not have asked for better weather. Seriously, the sun there is absolutely beautiful out west.
From Angela and Brett: “We’ve had our small husky-eyed beagle mix, Margot, for just over four years now.
We got her a puppy playmate, Esteban, at the beginning of the pandemic. It was wonderful to finally get family photos with everyone while not having to utilize a self-timer and the luck of the draw with two angsty, energetic pups. Margot is a five-year-old mix beagle-mix, and Esteban is a two-year-old red heeler mix.”
Tessa is talented, professional, and fun to work with, and she gives great direction to get your best angle. Even if you feel awkward posing, she works her magic to make everything feel natural!”

I love the idea of including pets in family portraits. We haven’t done that yet, but I’m going to do it at our next portrait appointment.
I love these photos! This post reminded me that I really should book family photos for us. It’s been ages.
Very cool to see that these photos were taken in my town. The bosque is a great area for photos.

Getting family photos yourself, with two hyper pups, is no easy task indeed. I can attest to that! These four look so happy together – such a lovely family. Thanks for sharing! 🙂
Gorgeous family photos! What a lovely idea to do family photos with all the family. I know capturing personalities and running animals isn’t easy, yet it was done beautifully.
What wonderful pictures! The lighting is absolutely incredible and it really shows off the joy in all of the shots 🙂
