I am quite partial to mixed breeds, especially low riders like my Theo. I can see why photographer Jessica Hunt fell in love with Ranger the short-legged Labrador mix.
From Jessica: “Ranger is a Basset Hound and black Lab mix pup. He is the greatest gift I’ve received from this world in quite a while.Ranger has brightened my life SO much since he found me in March of 2016. My father, who lives in a rural area, found this little Labrador mix on his property at 6 or 7 weeks old. I was hesitant about taking him in until I saw Ranger as a pup in person for the first time. I immediately knew he was the little guy for me, and now a year later, I realize I couldn’t have made a better decision about Ranger!
He’s such a bundle of joy, and I took two of these images while he was walking beside me and capture that perfect ‘puppy smile’ that all dog owners get when they look up at us during a walk or play!
Since he’s such a big part of my life every day, I wanted to get creative for his birthday and decided since human parents do cake smash sessions for their kiddos, why can’t I do a puppy cake smash session for Ranger?!? And so, I did!!
And Ranger LOVED it. He really loved standing at attention for pictures to get a little treat. And obviously loved eating his cake from Silver Spoon Bake Shop! They created a semi-naked cake with blue little paw prints for him. Just the cutest little thing!! And Ranger looks so handsome because he is wearing a Pecan Pie Puppies collar and bowtie for his birthday!”

|I saw one of these at a dog event and took a double take. They are cute but weird – the owner of the one I saw thought it was an accidental breeding but maybe these are the new designer mutts
