No matter how technologically advanced we become, humans are still at the mercy of Mother Nature. Photoshoots are often scheduled around the weather, rescheduled if its too hot or cold or moved to a different location if its raining. And sometimes you just have to work with what Mother Nature gives you and take your chances. I am inspired by these soft, muted and gorgeous photos by Patrick and Trish of StudioFido of a “might-rain-at-any-moment day”, a field of dandelions and a pair of energetic and playful Labrador Retrievers: Millie and Ruben.
I love photos like this that awaken my other senses. I can practically smell the impending rain and feel the humidity on my skin.
Millie, the yellow Lab, suffers from chronic allergies and has had more than her share of trips to the vet. Fortunately for Millie, she views the vet’s office as a place to get extra belly rubs. Ruben is a bit more high strung than Millie and alerts the family if rabbits or deer are in the yard.
Millie and Ruben are six years old and have a lot of fun together. Millie enjoys teasing Ruben by grabbing a toy and making sure he’s aware of it.
Although the dandelion field might have taken a beating, I’m sure it will grow back in no time. Thanks to Ruben, Millie and StudioFido for proving that a perfect summer day doesn’t have to include a blue sky!
