Today is officially National Pet Day. I know that you love and treat your pets well every day, so I would like to encourage you to do something for yourself: book a professional portrait pet session. Spokane dog photographer, Angela from Noses And Toes Photography has a great series called A Girl and Her Dog, that I hope will inspire you too!
From Angela: “The old saying goes “diamonds are a girl’s best friend.” Until it comes to dogs.
A Girl and Her Dog has been my labor of love for the past year, creating images that convey the bond many of us women share with our dogs.
When my sweet boy Shep left this world in 2014 at the age of 12, I was devastated. He was my best friend, my soulmate, my co-pilot.
Thanks to our hikes in the Rocky Mountains of Alberta where we lived then, I found a camera back in my hands after an extended hiatus. I am blessed to have hundreds of amazing images of our journeys around Western Canada and the PNW.
Shep taught me so much about love, patience and living in the moment. He prepared my heart to grow 100 times bigger than I ever thought it could, allowing me to give my all to Bella, my now five-year-old Maremma sheepdog.
I am A Girl and Her Dog and I’ve finally found my calling. I carry Shep’s spirit with me whenever I pick up my camera to create lifelong memories for people who have found that same connection with their dogs.
He led me here.”
Unfortunately, some of these dogs have crossed the rainbow bridge, but I know these photos will be treasured forever.

Makes me wish we had taken more photos of our now 12 yr old doggie when he was a pup. He’s such an integral part of our family & we don’t have a lot of photos of him growing up with our kids

Gorgeous photos! They capture such special times in our lives. I do not typically get into pics with my dogs, but have a few special ones from my past canine partners, and a few special ones with my FiveSibes that I cherish! I do have thousands of them together and solo! But do so love the few I have together. I love how she found her calling…as a photographer and dog momma, this so resonates with me. Her love of Shep gives her such passion in her work of creating memories. Beautiful.

Awesome pictures, but where’s the diversity? Women of other races don’t have/love dogs too?
Beth says
I love featuring people of all races and I am sadly aware of the lack of diversity of humans that are featured with their dogs on my blog. I reach out to photographers to try and get more diverse families to feature, but for whatever reason, I don’t get much response.
If you are a photographer or know one, I would be super appreciative of any leads to include people of all races and their dogs.
