Dogs bring us together in so many ways. Blue, the handsome Husky, is helping the young humans in his life become a family! Las Vegas photographer Sarah Jay took her newly blended family and pup to Nelson, Nevada, for some beautiful family photos.
From Sarah: “One of the hardest parts about blending a family and moving in together is creating a home where all the kids can feel like it is their own. This year we blended four kids ranging in ages 8-12 after a year of dating and recently moved in together this spring. I recently did a personal family shoot for my own private use that includes my one year old, black & white, heterochromia husky, and four kiddos. Surprisingly he cooperated the best out of them! I focused on the color teal because it’s the color of our home, and I wanted the images to match. 
As a photographer, I decided to take just the kids and our husky out to Nelson, Nevada (less than an hour outside of Vegas), to take pics of them to display around the house. The goal was to have visuals around that would be a constant reminder that our new blended family is our new normal.
We brought Blue boy with us to be part of the shoot. Surprisingly, he cooperated the best out of them! Blue is a one-year-old husky who all the kids consider their own. I like to remind them, however, that I am ‘his human’ since I have known him since he was TWO DAYS old. He’s so full of energy that we find the kids in a game of chasing him around the house nightly. They also have to paper rock scissors to decide who gets to hold his leash on the morning runs or who he sits with in the truck. 
I tease that Blue is my favorite ‘child,’ but the truth is, he is the family member who helps glue the kids together with his moments of sweet and playful.
We shot out at Nelson, Nevada so if you are ever in Vegas, make sure to put it on the checklist because the location is a local favorite and so fun (even without a camera in hand.”
Now, if only I can figure out a way to get my husband to paint his old truck that shade of teal!
