While most of the breeds I’ve coveted are big dogs, I’ve loved a lot of little dogs. It always amazes me how something so tiny can steal hearts so completely. Daisy is a little dog who stole some hearts and found herself a new home. Enjoy these portraits by Heather Smith Photography celebrating the love of between Stephanie and Daisy May.
From Heather: “This mother’s day I offered a session for fur kid parents! Since my pets are my kids I thought pet moms shouldn’t be left out! Daisy was a rescue that Stephanie has had about 2 years. It was quite a windy day but we all pushed through it and I had a wonderful time photographing the both of them!”
From Stephanie: “My husband and I are very fortunate that such a spunky, headstrong, loving dog has come into our lives. Daisy May was adopted into our family in February of 2012. My brother-in-law’s co-worker found her roaming the streets in a small, mountain town just outside of Sacramento. They attempted to locate the owner without success. I have always been an animal lover but until now I had only bonded with the feline kind as they are very self-reliant. Both my husband and I had wanted a dog, but with a dog comes so much more responsibility, so we just kept putting it off. Until the day we heard about Daisy May. I immediately fell in love with her when I saw her picture. We finally met her a couple days later…and that was it, we were in love! So it wasn’t a traditional “rescue” but we feel that we all rescued each other.”
Daisy May is estimated to be 2 years old dachshund mix by our vet. So many people have offered their opinions on what she is: Chihuahua, Pomeranian, Papillon and many more. However, to us she is simply our baby!
She loves the outdoors and is always up for a hike or run. This girl has energy to burn! She loves talking; if there is a problem, she will tell you all about it. Daisy May is an absolute social butterfly. Whether you walk on two legs or four, she wants to say “Hi!” and give you kisses. Even though she would rather be on the move, she is also content sitting by the river, while we enjoy the water. Over the past year she has provided us entertainment, challenges, and unconditional love. We could not picture our lives without her!”You can see more of Heather’s photography on her blog and facebook page.
