I am so happy to share this beautiful engagement session by Anna K. Photography. I think it is great when people include their pets in their engagement sessions, admittedly it is a bonus when the whole family is as good looking as these four!
Erin got Brody, the Yorkie when he was just a puppy five years ago.
Jake, a lab mix, was 13 months old when Justin and Erin adopted him from Lowndes Animal Shelter. Justin was a retriever trainer in college and had his heart set on a purebred Labrador Retriever with proven bloodlines.
Like so many others, he stopped at the local shelter one day with no intention of getting a dog.
From Justin: As I walked through the facility with all of the barking and noise, I happened to notice a 13 month old Lab-mix puppy sitting there just as quiet as can be with this look on his face as if to say ‘Just get me out of here’. I brushed it off and left immediately, knowing that I needed to leave soon before I went home with this dog.
On the way home I could not get the look of this pup out of my mind, and the thoughts became stronger and stronger until I literally whipped the truck around in the middle of the road and headed back to the animal shelter. I asked the lady if she minded if I put the pup in a fenced in area so I could spend a moment playing with him. I threw a tennis ball for him, and he immediately retrieved. I thought ‘Well that’s a start, but we still have a long way to go.’
Erin paid the adoption fee as a present for Justin’s birthday. After many hours of training, Jake has proved himself to be an excellent retriever. Justin has had clients ask him what bloodline Jake comes from and he simply laughs to himself. He couldn’t be happier with his pound puppy!
Brody might not be able to lift a quail, but he has the cute award in the bag!
Currently, Erin and Justin are missing Brody and Jake very much! Justin is in the Coast Guard and they are currently stationed in Alaska. Hopefully, this family of four will be reunited before too long!
