Last Friday I shared a sneak peek of this adorable trio with the promise that I would feature more of Sarah McGraw’s photos this week. This session really struck a chord with me. If you enjoy these photos even half as much as I do, I know you’ll be smiling for a good part of the day! This first photo would be prominently displayed in my dream museum of dog photography.
From Sarah: “Rainy, cloudy, and windy aren’t really things you want to see in the forecast…especially when you are heading to the beach…from Kentucky.
Every year, this furry family takes a week-long trip from the Bluegrass State to the shores of Emerald Isle. These troopers left Kentucky at 3 in the morning and arrived on the island around 3 in the afternoon. With little sleep, empty bellies, and a few excited Dachshunds, their session was only a couple hours away. We spent those 2 hours texting back and forth as rain, wind, and clouds surrounded us and made us wonder if we were going to have to give up hope on taking pictures of Affinity, Kobe, and Avalanche on their favorite beach. We decided to press forward and I’m so glad we did!
The wind and cold never let up on us and we had to dodge raindrops a few times, but it was totally worth it! Affinity, Kobe, and Avalanche had a great time and as long as they were on the beach, they were happy as the clams washing up on shore. “
From Candice: Affinity was our first baby and still is our baby girl. She loves her daddy very much. She is 10.5 and is so full of life. She went through college with me and saw me and her dad get married. She is very sassy and knows what she wants and when she wants it…and she will tell you. She loves car rides especially if we end up at the beach.
Avalanche is a Momma’s boy! We rescued him off craig’s list because the person ‘couldn’t deal with him anymore.’ I scooped him up and took him home. We had him less than 24 hrs when he got sick so we rushed him to the doctor to find out he had parvo. The doctor’s gave us 50/50 chance so we took it. He spent 9 days in ICU and then here he is 8 years later! At the age of 5 years old he had to have back surgery and he recovered 95%. His back leg is a little weak but that doesn’t slow him down. His favorite thing to do is dig, dig, dig. His favorite spot to do this at the beach.
Kobe is a hot–but cute mess! We have known Kobe since he was a wee little thing and one day he decided to just stay with us and we were happy to accommodate him. He has to be the most friendly dog I have ever known…I have known him to jump inside the UPS man truck because he gives him treats. He also is a momma’s boy so much so when I am cooking/baking he has his chair right next to the kitchen island to “help” me. His favorite thing to do is ride in a car–no matter where or how far and he is so good. He also loves to dig like his big brother and he also loves the beach very much. We suspect Kobe of being 5 years old .
