Aviar (pronounced like the letters A-V-R) is the pride and joy of Huntsville, Alabama photographer Jessica Magee. Its easy to see why this adorable pup has earned a spot in Jessica’s heart!
From Jessica: “Aviar is half Border Collie, and half Lab mix. She is 1 year and 5 months, and is by far one of the smartest dogs I’ve ever met! It’s incredible! While she wasn’t rescued from a pound, she WAS rescued from a house with 14+ dogs that weren’t being cared for. We picked her up when she was 7 weeks old. She was the runt by far and was being fed human food instead of puppy food. It took some time to get her trained up and well fed, but we are so blessed we were able to find her in time. She’s the light of our lives and we couldn’t possibly love her any more than we already do.
She’s spoiled rotten with homemade organic treats and some of the best dog food available. She sleeps in the bed WITH us (or rather, we sleep in HER bed), and we imagine there’s nothing she is left wanting or needing.
I love how unique my dog is, we have yet to find one that looks like her! She was nearly solid white until she was 6 months old, then we discovered liver colored spots down her back, mostly on one side. She’s gorgeous and LOVES having me take her monthly photos.

I have a male 4 month old Border Collie that looks a lot like her but Max has small charcoal spots on his ears and some faded ones here and there but not much. He looks like he has eyeliner on. His eyes are dark but his nose has some pink. Max is not a double merle lethal white. He was just born with the white factor border collie. It looks to me yours is to the lethal white can be or become deaf or blind. It cool to see a dog like my Max. Max is still so young a has a lot of growing so not sure yet but he seems to be a smooth coat.

I think I just finally figured out what mixed breed that my dog is 🙂 they have so many similar characteristics it’s crazy!! I was told at the animal shelter that he was lab/husky.. But he is 40 pounds and 4 years old. Thanks for sharing!!!

She looks so much like my girl except mine has quite a lot of black ticking over her whole body mostly only on her skin. I took my girl on from some people who couldnt give her what she needed (time, food etc) and i wasnt able to get any information about what she is when she was born etc. Ive just had a breed i.d dna test done and am waiting on the results, but she looks so similar to your girl.

I’d love to hear the results of her DNA test!

5 weeks ago, we adopted Ella. She’s 7 months old and is exactly the same breed mix as Aviar. Ella has only hints of cream colored fur along her back and is otherwise completely white. She’s very affectionate and aside from some resource guarding issues centered on food, she’s a terrific dog. We are working with her on the guarding and she’s making terrific strides. We had a DNA test done on her and that’s how we know she’s the breed mix that she is. Nearly everyone who sees her when we’re out together stops and either asks about her or comments on how pretty she is. We can’t imagine life without her!

It sounds like Ella has a great home with you! I am happy for all of you, and I’m sure she is gorgeous!
