This has been a hard week for many dog lovers.  If you have followed the horrendous story of Lennox, you  probably agree that  BSL fails our dogs. The cliffnote version: “We as a society need to put an end to breed-specific legislation because we – especially dog owners – must hold people responsible for neglectful, abusive behavior. We need to focus less on the breed of a dog and more on how that dog is being trained and treated. We need to educate and help people become good dog owners, whether they have a Pekingese, a Staffie, a Poodle, or a German shepherd.” ~ Grouchy Puppy Blog

The hot weather here has me dreaming of a Dog-cation in Humboldt County.  DogTrekker has a great guide of dog friendly locations. 

Schubert Alley in New York City will be going to the dogs on Saturday, 7/14.  Bernadette Peters and Mary Tyler Moore’s charity Broadway for Barks will be celebrating its fourteenth anniversary.

Now is the time to speak out against puppy mills.   Let your voice be heard:  USDA Proposed Animal Welfare Regulation.   Time is running out, the USDA is only accepting comments until July 16, 2012.

With the Olympics right around the corner, I can’t help but think what if there were Canine Olympics? Besides agility and  freestyle frisbee, I’d love to see Dog Tetherball.

And finally the burning question we all want to know the answer to:  Is Ryan Gosling cuter than a puppy?  You be the judge!
