“April is National Volunteer Month and a time to celebrate ordinary people doing extraordinary things to improve their communities.” ~ Be the Change for Animals
Today I’m participating in Blog the Change For Animals. Personally, I think any day is a good day to feature rescue dogs, but especially so today!
Shawn Marie Ravazzano of Sabra Creative Photography photographed these awesome dogs who are available for adoption from Sunshine Coast Animal Refuge in Tanahwa, Queensland, Australia.
Ted is an American Staffy and is quite friendly. He gets along well with other dogs his size.
Rossi is a good natured American Staffy who approximately 4.5 years old.
Pedro is somewhat timid around men. He has been working with a behaviorist and is well mannered.
Copper is almost 8 years old and loves people!
Mixed breed Bugbsy is about two years old. He needs some TLC and a person who knows dogs. Bugbsy has friendly nature.
You can see more photos of these and other dogs at the Sunshine Coast Animal Refuge on Shawn’s blog.
If you already volunteer or complete random acts of kindness, thank you! If you are looking to do more, read on for more ideas.
Not everyone can adopt a dog, but luckily there are lots of ways to help homeless animals! Fostering is an excellent way to save two dogs… the one you foster and the dog that will fill that spot in the shelter. Photographing pets in the shelter help highlight their wonderful attributes, making the pet adopted more easily. If you aren’t familiar with HeARTs Speak, I recommend you check it out! Sharing pets on Facebook, Pinterest and other social media is probably one of the simplest way to make a difference. In addition, shelters always appreciate volunteers to walk the dogs, help with laundry, clean crates and play with the puppies. If you don’t have the time to volunteer, shelters seem to always need items like: old towels, laundry detergent, cleaning supplies, dog food, treats, toys and of course monetary donations. A quick way to make a difference is emailing or calling state government officials encouraging them to end BSL and ban puppy mills.

Thanks for linking to my post! If we can keep the pressure on in Maryland, I’m hoping we really can make a difference.
