Once again I’m joining a blog hop hosted by DogsnPawz sharing some amazing animals who are looking for their forever homes! These awesome dogs are all available from Lionel’s Legacy and were photographed by Terran Bayer from Westway Studio.
November is Adopt a Senior Month. Thanks to Petfinder for these thoughts on senior pets:
“Think of a pet that is already trained and doesn’t chew or scratch everything in sight — a pet who will love you unconditionally,” said Kim Saunders, Petfinder.com’s Vice President of Shelter Outreach and Public Relations. “That’s what you get when you adopt a senior pet.”
Some people worry that a senior pet comes with problems, but according to Hazel Blumberg-McKee of Tallahassee, FL, there are no disadvantages. “In most cases they’ve had a home and they want one again.” She adopted eight-and-a-half-year old Sadie, and has never regretted it. “An older animal is easier to deal with. And Sadie is still playful. She plays fetch and gallops all over the place.”
At animal shelters and rescue groups everywhere, there are loving, healthy senior pets like Sadie, looking for that one special home to cherish them for the rest of their life, and they don’t ask for much: just a warm place to sleep, good meals and plenty of love.
Lionel’s Legacy is devoted to senior dogs and has some of the most loving and sweet dogs waiting for their forever homes!
From Terran: Big Boy is a total love! I bent down to say hello and he came right over and gave me kisses. Big Boy is a 7-year old Labrador/American Staffordshire Terrier mix. He loves to play, go for walks and take rides in the car. He also loves to relax with his people. Big Boy has the sweetest face, the floppiest tongue, and the happiest smile!
Jak Jak is a very special 10-year old lab mix. He came to Lionel’s Legacy when his human mom passed away. He was a loyal dog and would alert her family when she was having seizures. Jak Jak loves to go for walks and lounge around the house with his people.
Miriam is about 15-years old and is the happiest pittie mix around. Her sweet white face and big smile bring instant joy to those around her. She has some joint degeneration and arthritis in her back legs, so she would do well in a home with few stairs.
Ol’ Red is a wonderful old man pittie mix. He’s about 12-years old and has quite a few scars indicating those 12 years haven’t been the easiest. Despite whatever may have happened to him, Ol’ Red loves other dogs and kids. He’s so happy to be loved now and spends his days lounging and enjoying walks.
Beau is an 11-year old fluff ball/toy poodle. Beau has cataracts and a disfigured eye from birth, so he can’t see all that well, but neither slow him down. He’s as cute as can be and loves his people.
Puffy is a beautifully regal 9- or 10-year old purebred German Shepherd. She has such a laid-back personality and is so happy to be with her people. Puffy loves other dogs and she’s in great health!
Sally is a beautiful Shepherd/lab mix who was rescued from the middle of the desert by a good samaritan. At 6- or 7-years old, she has quite a few distinguishing gray hairs — but don’t let them fool you; she still loves to go on walks with her family! Sally listens well and even knows a few tricks!
Scarlett is a beautiful little pittie mix who loves to snuggle. She became blind when her retinas detached, which is believed to have been caused by high blood pressure (which is kept under control with inexpensive medication). Scarlett responds well to basic commands… but only if you speak them in Spanish!
