Handsome Moose, the mixed breed, is undeniably handsome. He joined his humans, Delaney and Matthew, for their engagement session with The Ramseys Photography at the Houston Arboretum and Nature Center. As a plant lover, I want to visit the Houston Arboretum in person!
From the Ramseys: “The Houston Arboretum and Nature Center is beautiful year-round, but it’s especially nice on those rare nights where Houston feels like it has fall.
It was such a wonderful backdrop to Matthew and Delaney’s classic outfit choices. Delaney’s red dress really popped against the green of the arboretum and gold of sunset in early fall. And their natural-toned outfits worked great as a walk in the park on a beautiful night. Add in the most adorable dog, and you get an amazing engagement session.
These two met in junior high through a mutual friend. They have lots of friends from college that they can’t wait to be in their wedding. They recently adopted a dog named Moose from the Bryan Animal Shelter, who they featured in their images.”
From Delaney: “I have always been a dog person. For as long as I can remember, we have ALWAYS had a least one dog in my family growing up. When I went off to college, I wanted a dog so badly, but my mom always reminded me that it would be my responsibility, both physically and financially. I always had the stigma in my head that college kids were not good dog parents because of their busy schedules with school and on the weekends wanting to go out and have fun with friends after a long week of school and work. Also, they are typically ‘poor’ and not financially stable enough to take care of a dog. I know now that the stigma I believed about college students and having a dog is not always true. So there I was in college, about a month before graduating from Texas A&M University, and I decided I had waited long enough. My then-boyfriend and now my fiancé and I decided it was time. I looked up local shelters around me, found Bryan Animal Shelter, and looked online at all the dogs available. With the application, they required me to list four dogs I saw on the website that I would be interested in. As I looked through all the sweet babes on their site, I wrote down my top four and went to see them the next day.
Due to COVID-19, unfortunately, my fiancé could not go with me, so he trusted me to go pick out basically our first kid myself. As a staff member walked me back, she took me to my number one choice, who turned out to be scared and could get aggressive out of fear. With both my fiancé and I having two dogs each at home, that would not be a good fit. My second choice was recovering from surgery and could not be seen, and my third choice had just been adopted. So that left me with my fourth choice. He was only my fourth choice because I thought he might be too big.
But she took me over to him, and he was jumping like a mad man, and to be honest, my first thought was ‘no way,’ but I decided to give him a chance because they all deserve it. She walked me to the back, where they had a little turf field, and let us have some alone time. Within five minutes, that dog completely stole my heart, and I just knew this was my dog. Immediately I went to the staff members and asked them what I needed to do next to take him home with me. The next day I had to bring my roommate’s dog just to make sure they got along so there would be no problems at home. The next day we brought her with us, and they did great! Then I took him home, and he was ours forever!
Moose is the most perfect dog. He is sweet, well behaved, energetic, loves every dog he has ever met, is so loving, extremely expressive with his emotions (you can tell exactly what he’s thinking by his facial expressions), just wants to be with you all the time, loves to play and loves to sleep, so go with the flow and just a perfect angel. Moose loves to go in the car and go to the park. My fiancé and I are getting married in June, so we still live at each other’s parents’ house, so Moose will go back and forth sometimes, and he has no problem with it at all. Our parents are obsessed with him, and I am not sure what they are going to do when we move to Arkansas in July, hahaha. He is also very food-focused and absolutely loves treats. He will literally eat anything. Literally anything. He absolutely loves to go walking and would go all day if he could. He is just everything we could’ve wanted and more.
Along with my fiancé, of course, Moose is the best thing that ever happened to me and the best decision I’ve ever made. He is so so so loved and has his forever home with us.”
