Superstition Mountain in Phoenix, Arizona was the perfect backdrop for this dog-friendly family photo session turned surprise proposal photographed by Suzy Goodrick Photography. Alyx booked a session for her boyfriend, Malik, and their three dogs.
Hercules is a Chow mix, Humphrey is a French Bulldog, and Cooper is a toy Aussie.
From Suzy: “Alyx booked a Secret Menu session for her and her man, Malik. She was beyond excited to have family photos with their pups and take holiday card photos. Little did she know, her boyfriend had a plan all his own!
Malik messaged me before their session and let me in on a little secret. He was going to pop the question! We met up in the desert, took photos with their fur babies, and then towards the end of their shoot, Malik shared the sweetest love letter to Alyx and popped the question. She was so surprised.”
From Alyx: “When we saw the opportunity to book a photoshoot with Suzy, I knew I wanted beautiful images of our family to display on the walls of our new home. Little did I know my now-husband, then-boyfriend, had a plan of his own to propose. Our dogs have always been such an important part of our lives, and they’re just as much part of our family, so we knew they’d have to come along for the shoot!
I rescued Hercules in 2011, Malik adopted Cooper in 2016, and Humphrey was my 2017 Christmas present. Over the last 11 years, so much has changed in both our lives, and until we found each other, the dogs were always there. With three very different and often amusing personalities (which Suzy captured SO well) they fill our hearts with laughter, love, and lots of doggies kisses every day.
Taking a blind dog, a toy Aussie and a French bulldog on a hike, in dress clothes, for photos can only be described as slightly chaotic. However, knowing they were able to be part of our engagement truly overwhelms my heart with happiness and makes it all worth it. We couldn’t imagine our lives without them, so we’ll cherish every moment we do have with them. And book more photoshoots. “
