While I love fresh flowers and wedding bouquets, this may be my favorite wedding idea ever! Jenna, the bride, shared her love of animals on her wedding day by carrying a puppy instead of a bouquet. Her attendants were lucky enough to carry a puppy down the aisle as well! This seems like a fun way to celebrate a marriage and raise awareness about homeless pets. Hopefully, Jenna inspired the wedding guests to adopt their next pet. Enjoy these photos from Myrtle Beach wedding photographer, Ryan Smith Photography.
From Ryan: “Bridesmaids carried puppies instead of bouquets. They teamed up with the North Myrtle Beach Humane Society for puppy adoption.”
From Jenna: “Our bouquets were unique as they were puppies! I had seen this idea on social media a few years ago and said, “if and when I get married, I will have puppies at my wedding.’ We also had floral bouquets, but the puppies were better! I reached out to a local shelter in South Carolina. Tina at North Myrtle Beach Humane Society got back to me right away and loved the idea. I kept this a surprise from everyone, including Justin, until the day before the wedding. My bridesmaids had no idea until the morning of the wedding. All guests were surprised as well. People still talk about this day! I mean, who doesn’t love puppies?! We are avid animal lovers, so it was the perfect touch for the wedding.
Justin and I decided to personalize our wedding in a couple of different ways. We had someone come play live music with his guitar. We also each had a drink named after our pets. I reached a stray cat about four years ago and named my drink after him, the Fred. Justin rescued a dog from our local shelter five years ago and named his drink the Tyson.”
Another thing that I loved is the Pug charm on Jenna’s bouquet. What a wonderful way to remember a special pet. And although the puppies might have been the highlight of the day, they also had an adorable ring bearer!

What a delightful and unselfish way to bring attention to the need to help puppies/rescues. The bride, groom, and bridal party all look stunning. And naturally, the puppies are adorable! I love how the bouquet included the pictures in the lockets inside. So beautiful. Congratulations to the happy couple.

Such a terrific idea! It made for some absolutely beautiful wedding photos. I really love the photo with all of the bridesmaids holding their “puppy bouquets”. This will be a wonderful memory for the couple as they grow older.

That is a total cuteness overload. One caveat, though, if I was there, I wouldn’t even notice the bride :p

I love the idea of highlighting shelter and rescue pets during a wedding. It’s such a fun idea – and hopefully, the highlight will allow for these pups to find amazing homes with friends and family. 🙂
