Winston, the Golden Retriever pup, joined his humans for their engagement session with Abigail Saalfrank Photography in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
From Abbey: “Want to know why I think my job is the best? Well, it is because I have the pleasure of photographing the weddings of some of my very best friends. I honestly could not think of a way to feel more special to my friends than when they ask me to be their wedding photographer. I imagine it is what most people feel like when they are asked to be a bridesmaid. But instead of wearing a pastel-colored dress and drinking champagne with my friends all day, I take the photos that they will look at for the rest of their lives. I get to be a part of my friend’s weddings in a way no one else gets to, and it makes my job the most amazing thing in the world. This dog-friendly engagement session will turn into a wedding that fits that exact description.
I met Taylor in my senior year of college during a class. We talked occasionally here and there until she asked me about engagement photos. We exchanged numbers, and our friendship blossomed from there.
I have the privilege of calling Taylor one of my best friends. We talk to each other every day. We share bonds over food, talking to each other about relationship problems, teaching because we both happen to sub, and literally everything. Seriously there is not a single convo off-limits to us. So basically, being her wedding photographer is the best thing she could have asked of me. Capturing one of my best friend’s weddings is going to mean I will be crying behind the camera, but that’s fine because we have been talking about that day since she got engaged.
But enough about Taylor because clearly, I adore her, there is also the other half of this relationship, Paul, who I adore as well because of how happy he makes Taylor.
They brought their Golden Retriever puppy, so to be honest, I spent most of the time looking and obsessing over Winston.
I am so excited to watch these two get married! And I’m also so thankful to be such a big part of their day!”
From Taylor: “Winston is a purebred Golden Retriever who was four months when we took these photos. He loves long walks, and runs with mom, sticking his head out the window during car rides, and pizza. Winston also loves dad’s pillow and refuses to sleep anywhere, but dad’s pillow, meaning dad has taken to sleeping without one. He is super photogenic, clearly, and loves when mom takes pictures of him. He hates plastic bags, balloons, the fridge door, and vegetables. But who blames him on the vegetables? He is well-loved by everyone, and is totally spoiled rotten.”

Winston has the sweetest little puppy face. I bet it’s so fun, as an engaged couple, to get a dog together. That’s a great way to bond over someone you can care for – who also cares for you! I love it!

I love that sweet puppy face! I love how you can tell based on their face if they’re still a puppy or not.
