From Debra: “Back at their old apartment complex, Ana and Edwin befriended Charlie, the apartment cat. At the time, the apartment manager, Ana, and Edwin all thought that Charlie was a boy, and thus they addressed him as so. According to the manager, he showed up a couple of years ago, and no one claimed him- however, everyone at the apartment complex always petted him and gave him treats. Ana and Edwin would worry about Charlie being out in the rain and the cold, but their apartment complex had a strict no-pet policy.
When Ana and Edwin bought their house, they decided to bring Charlie with them. They took him to the vet, and lo and behold; the vet said that Charlie is actually a girl, not a boy! Perhaps she meowed so often because everyone kept calling her a boy all those years. The vet estimated Charlie to be about seven years old, based on her teeth and health.
Charlie-Bear, as she is affectionately called, enjoys rolling around in the dirt. She is so vocal and definitely not afraid to tell you what she thinks. Ana and Edwin wanted to have Christmas photos done focusing on Charlie, seeing as she had a rough life living out in the streets and now she’s living the good life in a warm house with beds and scratchers to sleep on. She’s gotten a little bit bigger since moving in as she no longer has to hunt for scraps when she was living on the streets- she loves eating her dry and wet food.
She wasn’t too keen on posing around the Christmas tree, so we had to make a lot of kissing noises and use catnip and treats. After that, we just let her do her thing and captured some candids. Charlie-Bear is the love of Ana and Edwin’s lives, and they’re reminded every day how lucky they are to have her.”

What a sweet story. Independent cats can make the best pets b/c they are smart enough to appreciate what they have. Just wondering why no kittens showed up. She must have been spayed.
Ana says
Hi Jan! Charlie-Bear’s human here. She was spayed! The vet thinks she was probably just a stray a good samaritan took in to get fixed since she wasn’t microchipped.

Awww she’s lovely. I’ve had(have) a few of those just showed up cats. Usually someone has dumped them because there’s a mindset out there that cats don’t need us and do “just fine” out there on their own. Charlie shows how much that isn’t true – cats do need us to survive

What a happy story for Charlie! How interesting to see that even a professional photographer has some problems taking photos of cats just like I do!

What a lovely tale of Charlie-Bear, for the holidays and all year through! Yes, Disney should make a movie about her! What a beautiful kitty and those photos are so lovely!

That was a nice treat seeing a cat in the photos! Charlie is one lucky girl for finding such amazing people to give her a warm and loving home. She definitely deserves to be pampered!
