Recently I shared creative ways to include pets in weddings. Niki and Chris, along with their photographer, Cat from Wild Connections Photography, had two more great ideas! Since they eloped to Austria for their wedding, the dogs couldn’t attend. Luckily, after the wedding, Cat visited Cornwall on vacation. They arranged an “after the wedding shoot” with their dogs in Hellman Tor.
I know it didn’t make sense, geographically, but I felt a “Sound of A Music” vibe when I first saw this image.
From Cat: “Niki and Chris eloped to Austria to say their vows. Their wedding day was almost perfect, but they wished they could have had their four gorgeous rescue dogs with them. Niki contacted me after she heard I would be on holiday in Cornwall to ask if we could get together again and take some more photos, this time with their dogs. Hellman Tor is a beautiful location and made a perfect backdrop for our afternoon walk with Niki in her wedding dress surrounded by her fur babies.”
From Niki: “The dogs are Canela, Mollie, Toby, and Duffle. Canela came from Spain via Paws 4 Rescue Facebook group. Duffle we had from a puppy, she was the runt of an unexpected litter and had worms when we got her and of course, she had her major back operation with Noel Fitzpatrick, The Supervet. But, she is the glue that holds the pack together, she is our stooge dog that has helped all the others build their confidence. (She also brings out the cheeky in all the other dogs!).”
Although the dogs didn’t travel to Austria for the wedding, their importance was reflected in the ceremony.
Niki surprised Chris with these adorable replicas of their dogs that doubled as ring bearers.

I do have to agree with, geographically it does not make sense, but I get the same Sound of Music feel you get!
The cool thing is, their wedding actually took place in the Alps of Austria, so a real Sound of Music vibe there!

What a lovely place for a photoshoot. The dogs look happy to be there and those replicas are so adorable! How did they choose which ones would be the ring bearers?
I’m not really sure how they made the choice, that’s a good question.
Pets in photos always makes them better 🙂 These pictures are gorgeous, I’m glad their dogs were able to be included somehow!
Such beautiful photos, we didn’t have our dogs when we got married but if he had, they definitely would be included!
This is even more fantastic. Instead of “bringing the dog to the wedding,” “bring the wedding to the dog.” An awesome idea everybody can fully enjoy. Love it.
Not every dog would be happy attending a wedding, even it is feasible. I really love this creative idea to get the photos with the dogs, and none of the stress!

You are totally right. The scenery and surroundings does remind me of the Sound of Music. I love that the bride and groom thought to have an after the wedding shoot. I wish I would have thought of that. (sigh). Beautiful candid photos. I love the four figurines of the dogs (ring bearers) at the end too. Very cute idea.

I’m so glad Niki was able to have her special photos with the pups. Even though they couldn’t go to Austria, I love that she had replicas made as ring bearers. So sweet!
I loved visiting Innsbruck! So glad Niki has included her dogs in her memories of her wedding…the pictures are amazing and so is the wedding dress.
Our wedding was a destination wedding in NYC’s Central Park, so our dog’s couldn’t attend BUT…we brought framed photos of them with us so they were “there”. Our wedding photographer even got some shots of the framed photos….
This is so cute! I love it! It’s so great they did this extra thing to include the dogs in their celebration in some way. If I had a dog when I got married they definitely would have been involved!
Absolutely everything about this makes me so happy. Pets are FAMILY, and this couple gets it!
