As soon as the weather starts getting chilly, it is baking season around here. With just four wholesome ingredients, these dog treats are so easy to make!
Although it is a little more complicated than one, two, three, it didn’t take long to make these and clean up afterward!
Clean up is easier with Scotch-Brite™ Brand sponges and dishwands.
The great thing about baking your own treats is you know exactly what is going into them. Because Nelly is sensitive to wheat, I use rice flour, but you can substitute whatever flour you prefer.
Vegan Carrot Pupcakes
Ingredients
- 1 cup flour (we use rice flour)
- 3/4 cup oats
- 1 cup natural applesauce
- 3/4 cup grated carrots
- Optional: xylitol free peanut butter for frosting
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350
- Lightly grease muffin pan or use a non-stick muffin pan
- Mix all ingredients in a bowl
- Pour batter into muffin pan (Batter does not rise)
- Bake 15-20 minutes
- Optional: frost with xylitol free peanut butter
Notes
They may not be the prettiest pupcakes, but Darla was excited to try them!
I added some peanut butter frosting and a few grated carrots to make them fancier.
A few months ago, our dishwasher just stopped working. After looking at our budget, and our smaller household, I decided to forego replacing the dishwasher at this time. However, I sometimes choose what to make for dinner based on the number of dishes, pots, and pans I’m likely to use.
While I love to bake, I don’t like to clean the kitchen.
One of the things I’ve discovered that makes clean up easier is having the right tools for the job. The blue Scotch-Brite® Non-Scratch Scrub Dots Sponge is an excellent choice for my non-stick pans and copper bowls. These sponges don’t scratch, but help cut down on the scrubbing time.
For my other pots and pans, as well as the dog dishes, I use the yellow and green Scotch-Brite® Heavy Duty Scrub Dots sponge. The scrub dot technology helps to clean faster and also lets the sponges rinse clean.
I bought my Scotch-Brite™ Brand products at Target. I found them in the Kitchen Cleaning aisle.

Cookie likes carrots but they MUST be mixed with meat. There is no discussion about that in our house.

These look delicious! I love that the ingredients are all healthy and will be adding this to my recipe list. Thank you. Scrubbing pots is not fun – glad the Scotch Brite, scrub dots do the trick without scratching.

As a vegan I LOVE THIS! My pup eats a LOT of veggies already but I think I might just have to add this to our fall repertoire.
Beth says
I know Monte is very small, so you make just want to make this into drops, they are a little tough.
Taylor says
I absolutely LOVE your recipes…my pup is on a diet, so I love to see all of the veggies you include. I’ve started mixing veggies into his dinner every night, and he is NOT a happy camper lol!

Darla is adorable posing with those vegan cupcakes. I’ll have to check out these sponges tomorrow at Target. I ‘m making my grocery shopping list and needed sponges for the dish washing. Thanks for these helpful tips!
Debbie says
Those look really good! And none of my pups can resist peanut butter, so I’m sure they’d be a hit! Plus the humans in our household are vegan, so that’s an added bonus

Not the prettiest pupcakes? LOL! Anything with peanut butter frosting is counted as a beautiful treat around the McSquare household. Throwing on more grated carrots sweetens the deal even more.

Darla is SO pretty!! These treats look so healthy & delicious. I’ve never used rice flour before, actually I don’t think I’m at all familiar with it. Thanks for sharing your recipe. I pinned it!
