If you are like me and have a weakness for handsome dogs and great photography, then this three season session from Kathryn Schauer Photography will make your day! Robbie is a handsome Duck Tolling Retriever, and he looks good in any weather! Kathryn always seems to find incredible locations and beautiful light for all of her sessions.
From Paula: “His name is short for Rob Roy, and later we were surprised to learn his paternal grandfather was also a Rob Roy. He is named after a famous Scottish cattle thief Rob Roy Mac Gregor, and we thought it appropriate due to his red coloring and his origins from Nova Scotia. His breed was cultivated to assist in luring flying ducks to the water for the hunter to then shoot. Apparently, their bushy tails movement among the long grasses attract the duck closer. Robbie, however, is definitely not attracted to ducks at all. He prefers the company of his lifetime buddy, our house dwarf rabbit called Dusty. Robbie is a senior dog but is still mistaken for a puppy due to his youthful looks and nature. He also loves to swim all year round, especially in lakes and beaches.”

What a pretty Toller. It’s funny he has the same name as his grandfather!

These are gorgeous shots. That first one is fantastic, I love a dog in a field of wildflowers. There’s just something about that.

These are beautiful especially the ones in the fields of lavender and the one along the water – wow! I would never have guessed he is a senior and I love that he is friends with a rabbit.

Is there a calendar with some of these photos? If not, there ought to be.
Beth says
I would love to see Kathryn have a calendar of dog photos, I’d buy it for sure!
Dash Kitten Crew says
These photographs just make me go WOW!
The dog’s personality is all there, the joy, the fun of exploration – and without the help of a professional you wouldn’t have half the quality would you? Getting a professional in makes a BIG difference.

LOVE. When I was deciding what breed to get, a toller was the runner up! I think they are amazing dogs. However, I heard they had a Toller Scream, so I decided against them. Little did I know my Cavalier would be a singer. lol
Beth says
I hope Dexter will sing just a little at the BlogPaws conference. I think I’d love to hear him!

These are my favorite looking breed- like little smiling goldens. So cute. I did not get one as too high energy for my current situation but still enjoy photos. Such beautiful photos and light.
Beth says
Tollers are a beautiful breed, but like you, I don’t have the lifestyle to keep one happy.
