I was inspired to try my hand at baking dog treats when I came across this simple recipe for human cookies. When I heard that my sister, Alice Patterson, was going to be photographing her longtime client, Annie Taylor’s new puppy, it seemed like the perfect time to start baking!

These are so cute! What a great idea for Valentine’s Day (or any day really). They sound really yummy. I wish that cats had a higher tolerance for carbohydrates because then we could bake for them too.
Bella says
Hey, I know it’s been a while since you posted it but I’m wondering how long does these last? My batch made 50 cookies and we only have two dogs so it’s gonna take some time to consume everything. Thanks!
Beth says
They don’t have any preservatives, so they won’t last too long. When I made mine, I froze half the cookies. The others one lasted about a week, but I think it depends on the humidity and temperature of your house. I hope your dogs enjoy them.
Andrew says
Looks great, i tried it making but it wasn’t crunchy but more like a soft chew which my pups love it nonetheless.
Is it meant to be crunchy?
Beth says
If you want it crunchier, you can bake it longer.

These sure do look healthy and delicious! Those photos remind me of when Wynston had his cast on for 12 weeks due to a broken foot.
Jodi says
I don’t see what temperature you bake these at?? Please advise as I’d like to try making some for my pups for Valentine’s…thanks!
Beth says
Hi Jodi,
Bake at 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes. I hope your pups enjoy them!
Lynette says
Hi I know this post was put up along time ago but these look awesome!! Can you use canned beetroot?
Beth says
Hi Lynette,
You can substitute canned beets. Of course, you always want to be sure that any processed food does not contain xylitol because that is toxic to dogs.
Bella says
How adorable! We can’t wait to try this out 🙂 Also, may I know if I could replace the beet with strawberries or blueberries?
Amy Miller says
How long as these good for?
Beth says
These should last about a week in an airtight container.
